One of Marvel’s Most Iconic X-Men Heroes Just Went Omega And Nobody Is Talking About It

Throughout the X-Men’s time on Krakoa, many heroes were revived, resetting them to their original forms and one of those mutants was Gambit.

While Remy LeBeau has been a staple X-Men member since the 90s, he’s not often a mentioned contender for the X-Men’s most powerful hero, despite this, it’s widely known that Gambit used to have omega-level potential. Before he became an X-Men, Gambit sought out Mister Sinister to help him get his powers under control, and to do that, Mister Sinister cut out a small part of his brain.

However, Gambit was killed during the Krakoa Era and was resurrected to his original state, meaning Gambit now has complete access to his previously unaccessible omega-level powers.

One X-Man Unlocked His Omega-Level Potential and Marvel Didn’t Want Fans To Notice

While Remy had difficulties controlling his powers and thus made a deal with Sinister, Gambit has had his powers restored before when he was turned into Apocalypse’s horseman of Death, and his full powers have been shown in alternate universes. In Gambit (Vol.3) #7 by Fabian Nicieza, another iteration of Gambit from Earth-9921 called New Sun was shown to have unlocked his omega-level potential. New Sun could control kinetic energy on a molecular level, pulling off incredible feats such as transforming his being into energy, allowing him to travel to other dimensions, and destroying an entire world.

Now that Gambit’s mind is seemingly restored, he has the potential to unlock all the abilities of his alternate omega-level self. Gambit’s restored powers have yet to be addressed in the current “From the Ashes” run but with Cyclops’ X-Men team having an array of powerful mutants, Gambit becoming an omega-level hero would give Rogue’s team some much-needed firepower. Should Gambit achieve his omega potential, his other lesser-known abilities would also be at their maximized level.

Though Gambit is mainly known for his ability to kinetically charge playing cards, he has other less acknowledged powers that would also be enhanced with his newly acquired omega-level capacity. Not only would Gambit achieve total control of his kinetic abilities as an omega-level mutant, but his limited telepathic abilities established during his first introduction in Uncanny X-Men #266 by Scott Lobdell and Roger Cruz, would also receive a massive upgrade. Gambit’s advanced reflexes and enhanced eye-sight which he primarily uses to throw his iconic playing cards are among his mutant powers that would also be vastly improved.

Gambit is exactly what Rogue’s team needs to even the playing field with Cyclops’ X-Men and Remy has more than proven himself to be capable of omega-level power.

As Rogue’s husband and one of the main Louisiana X-Men’s leaders, Gambit is the omega-level mutant Rogue’s team needs now that the X-Men are dispersed and displaced after the fall of Krakoa. It’s been revealed that Rogue and Cyclops’ teams are set to clash, however, half of Rogue’s team are young, teenage mutants who are for the most part inexperienced fighters while Cyclops has insanely powerful mutants like Juggernaut and Kid Omega. Gambit is exactly what Rogue’s team needs to even the playing field with Cyclops’ X-Men and Remy has more than proven himself to be capable of omega-level power.

The Krakoa Era Restored Gambit’s Powers and “From the Ashes” Needs To Address It

Gambit had Mister Sinister dampen his powers so he would not be a danger to others, but now, Remy is an experienced hero with immense control over his abilities, setting up the perfect evolution for Gambit to become one of the X-Men’s most powerful mutants. Gambit proficiently using powerful magic with the Eye of Agamotto is proof he’s grown and can excel at wielding incredible power. Since Gambit was revived with his mind fully restored, including the piece Sinister removed, Gambit is an omega-level mutant, he just hasn’t yet discovered the extent of his abilities.

The Krakoa Era made monumental changes to X-Men lore, with many heroes being altered forever. However, Gambit’s resurrection and restored power potential have yet to be addressed in current comics and because of that, this revelation has gone widely unnoticed. If Remy taps into his unrestricted power limits, he will undoubtedly be one of the strongest X-Men in the Marvel Universe. With Gambit’s brain and omega abilities fully restored, now is the best time for the X-Men franchise to explore the full extent of Gambit’s powers and omega-level capabilities.
