“Our Parkour Devs Just Couldn’t Wait” Assassin’s Creed Shadows Secretly Adds Highly Requested Feature

Naoe running over a rooftop in Assassins Creed Shadows Despite the pre-launch controversy, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been well received. The dual protagonists allow players to approach objectives in whatever way they prefer, with both stealth and combat approaches having their own appeal. That’s not to say the game is perfect.

Fans have complained about the typical Assassin’s Creed bloat, the unnecessary dialogue options, and some hard to complete side objectives. However, one of the most constant complaints has been about the fluidity of the parkour and the ejecting. While Ubisoft has a parkour update lined up for later this month, it seems a smaller update has already paved the way for future improvements.

Parkour Has Already Improved In Assassin’s Creed Shadows

As showcased by YouTuber Ropotopolous, the parkour has become much smoother and the animations have improved as well. This was after update 1.0.4, which was only supposed to add a new free quest and some bug fixes. Even the official patch notes have no mention of these parkour improvements. They also noted that the much requested improvements to ejecting have been implemented.

Ubisoft confirmed on Twitter that these changes were part of the recent update. “Community parkour expert Ropotopolous spotted an early tweak to parkour with Title Update 4,” said the tweet. “Our parkour devs just couldn’t wait and added a subtle increase for consistently maintaining vertical height when free running. More ejects and tweaks coming with the next update!”

It seems part of the updated parkour system was ready to be rolled out, so the devs pushed it out in update 1.0.4 instead of waiting till the end of the month for the major update. Of course, this should have been in the game from the start, but players will be surprised to find that Naoe’s parkour seems more free flowing now.

Along with this, the update also brought along a free quest featuring Luis Frois. You’ll remember him as one of the Jesuit mission members for whom Yasuke acted as a bodyguard in the opening sequence of the game. As for the full parkour update, a fixed date has not been revealed as of yet, but it is scheduled to arrive later this month.
