š± Resident Evil fans, the wait is finally over!
The remakes you’ve been dreaming about are here… and they’re even more terrifying than we imagined! š§āāļøšŖ Are you ready to relive the horror in stunning new ways?
Resident Evil fans hopeful for a new set of remakes to dig their teeth into may have just heard the answer to their prayers.
The lastĀ Resident EvilĀ remake we got was 2023āsĀ Resident Evil 4, a remake of the 2005 game of the same name.
Considering the positive reception to that game, as well as how adored the remakes ofĀ Resident Evil 2Ā andĀ Resident Evil 3Ā were, itās leaving some fans hopeful that the rest of the series could follow.
WhileĀ CapcomĀ hasnāt announced anything official yet, and likely wonāt while itās busy preppingĀ Resident Evil RequiemĀ for release in January, reports of new remakes have cropped up over the years.
Game developer and known Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer, or DuskGolem,Ā has saidĀ thatĀ Resident Evil: Code VeronicaĀ andĀ Resident Evil ZeroĀ are the next games to be getting the remake treatment.
āThe next mainline remakes coming should beĀ Resident Evil ZeroĀ &Ā Code Veronica,ā they wrote after being asked about a potential remake of the firstĀ Resident Evil.
āI do think a RE1 RE-Remake will happen eventually, just it’s not what’s coming in the next few years, & as far as I know not currently in dev.ā
Remember to take all this with a grain of salt, especially since Capcom has not publicly confirmed anything yet.
Resident Evil fans are obviously very excited about this, considering how popular those games are. They also have huge lore implications within the wider series canon, so new remakes could help to close out any narrative holes.
āFor the love of God, PLEASE let this be happening,āĀ wroteĀ one user on X (formerly Twitter).
āCode Veronica please please please,āĀ wroteĀ another.
In particular,Ā Code VeronicaĀ is the Resident Evil game in most in need of a remake. The original game, while it can be fun, is also pretty flawed.
For example, the second half of the game is notably worse than the first half, where it doesnāt communicate basic information to you while housing some pretty awkward boss fights. Itās even possible for you to soft-lock yourself if you make a few wrong decisions.
We’ll wait for official word from Capcom on whether these games are to receive the remake treatment.
