One of the most underrated Resident Evil games has received a gorgeous modern remaster, and you should check it out now.

Since the series’ inception in 1996, we’ve had a ton of games from Capcom’s Resident Evil series. From sequels, spin-offs, remakes and remasters, fans of this beloved survival horror franchise are never short of zombie-infested adventures.

With so many games in the series to choose from, it’s understandable that some Resident Evil titles may have flown under some fans’ radar, and one such game was released in 2015.

The game in question is Resident Evil: Revelations 2, a spin-off sequel to the 2012 game starring Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

The original Resident Evil: Revelations was released between Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, a time when the survival horror series had lost its survival horror ways and swung more in the direction of action.

Resident Evil: Revelations not only brought back horror, but also the fantastic camp cheesiness that fans loved about the series from the 90s. Without giving too much away, in its 2015 sequel, it brought back Claire Redfield and Barry Burton.

While I don’t think it’s quite as good as the original game, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is still a lot of fun. However, considering that it’s now a decade old, it’s looking a bit dated.

Thankfully, as brought to our attention by DSOGaming, there is a free download that gives the visuals of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 a much-needed refresh.

Created by modder Evgeshajk, ‘HD Texture Pack AI-Enhanced’ is available to download right now via Nexusmods.

“Textures were upscaled using AI, texture resolution was increased four times, with manual refinement,” reads the description of the mod. “Unlike the previous mod for Resident Evil: Revelations, this mod features many more changes to the original textures.”

Unfortunately, as is the nature of most mods, this is a PC exclusive. So for the rest of us, we can enjoy Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
