A VFX artist stunned fans with his edit of the iconic Ryan Reynolds vs Hugh Jackman fight scene from Deadpool 3 featuring a masked Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool 3 was one of the most anticipated movies of 2024. Although the excitement was off the charts, fans were admittedly wary about the movie. A major reason behind that was the series of hit and misses the superhero movies have been dealing with for the past few years.

Surprising everyone, though, the movie delivered on the promise for the most part. With its brilliant action sequences, background score, story telling, and performances, Deadpool 3 became one of the most entertaining movies of 2024.
There was, however, another thing that added to the movie’s success. That was, of course, the decision to put Jackman’s Wolverine in his costume and mask for the first time. Now, almost a year later, the mask in question has riled up the fans again thanks to a VFX artist working his magic in an edited clip of Deadpool 3.
Wolverine’s mask stole the show in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool 3
Fans were pleasantly surprised when Hugh Jackman reprised his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. Especially as it seemed like his journey ended with 2017’s explosive Logan, where the titular character died. However, after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, they got the rights to a myriad of Marvel characters that were yet unreachable when they acquired Marvel Studios in 2009.

Now, with the MCU’s expansive multiverse developing rapidly, it has been possible to revive and reintroduce some characters that died before. For example, Loki who died in Infinity War, was reintroduced in the Loki series, as a different version. Something similar takes place in Deadpool 3 with Wolverine as well.
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool goes in search of a Wolverine to help him protect his world after learning that his world’s version of the mutant superhero died during the events of Logan. He approaches several Wolverines in his quest to recruit them but ends up with “The Worst Wolverine” in the void, played once again by Hugh Jackman.
This gives the movie freedom to explore his backstory from scratch and opens up the option for Jackman to establish his character in the MCU if he so wishes in future films. Although Deadpool and Wolverine had collaborated once before in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, this movie explored their dynamic in a more nuanced way.
The onslaught of jokes, action, vulnerability, and heart-touching moments provided the perfect premise for the audience to get attached to this new version of Wolverine without disregarding the older version in any way. Moreover, the comic-appropriate costumes gave it a nice touch and made their introduction to the MCU an entertaining watch.
So it was no wonder that fans went crazy when the titular character donned his mask for the first time in his entire cinematic history. If anything, the Deadpool and Wolverine movie has made fans hopeful that they would get the chance to see Hugh Jackman return to his iconic character for future MCU movies. According to many, more collabs with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool wouldn’t exactly hurt either.
A VFX artist has awed fans with his edit of Deadpool 3’s famous fighting scene
Wolverine’s iconic winged mask has been a hot topic of conversation among the fans since the movie’s release, and a Canada-based VFX artist has recently capitalized on that. Taran Singh, a VFX artist from Toronto, recently posted a clip from Deadpool 3 on his X account.

The clip depicts the scene where Deadpool takes Wolverine to find themselves in the void after they visit the Time Variance Authority. An argument ensues between the two, leading to a magnificent battle sequence. Deadpool himself comments on this saying,
Alright! F*ck it! Let’s give the people what they came for.
Interestingly, while the original sequence boasted Jackman in the Wolverine suit, it lacked the mask. Singh, with his VFX magic edited the sequence to depict the titular character in all his masked glory. Phase Hero podcast’s host Brandon Davis shared the clip on his X account, and fans are here for it.
The movie has given millions of fans across the world hope for Wolverine’s return to the big screen with the help of MCU’s multiverse saga. However, with reports of Avengers: Secret Wars bringing every Marvel superhero to fight a final battle, which is expected to include the X-Men as well, it might not be a far-fetched dream.
It’ll be interesting to see if they make any solo movies again based on the character. Nonetheless, fans are hoping they will see more of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine with the mask in the coming years.
Deadpool and Wolverine is streaming on the Disney+.
