The final trailer for Season 5 just leaked and it’s a total bloodbath. With Hughie, Frenchie, and MM locked in a “Freedom Camp” and Homelander officially ruling from the Oval Office, the resistance is down to its last breath. But wait… is that Butcher with a Supe-killing virus? 🧬💀

The “Endgame” has officially begun and nobody is safe—not even the fan favorites. Check out the release date for the 2-episode premiere and the shocking Soldier Boy return below! 👇🔥

The “moist, gory, and epic” climax is finally here. Following a star-studded world premiere at Cinema Moderno in Rome, Prime Video has released the final trailer for the fifth and final season of The Boys. The teaser, titled “Homelander’s Endgame,” confirms a grim new reality for the series: the heroes have lost, the villains are in charge, and the only way out is a total global reset.

Showrunner Eric Kripke, who announced this would be the final chapter back in 2024, has promised a “reckoning” that will leave the universe forever changed. With a release date now locked for April 8, 2026, the countdown to Vought’s potential collapse has officially begun.

A World Under the Boot: The “Freedom Camps”

The trailer picks up roughly six months after the harrowing events of the Season 4 finale. The United States has transitioned into a full-blown Supe-dictatorship under the “erratic and egomaniacal whims” of Homelander (Antony Starr). In a chilling visual sequence, fan favorites Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are shown imprisoned in what Vought propaganda calls “Freedom Camps”—essentially internment centers for those who oppose the new regime.

Meanwhile, Annie January (Starlight) is seen operating from the shadows, struggling to mount a desperate resistance against an overwhelming force of Supes that now officially police the streets.

Butcher’s Nuclear Option: The Supe-Killing Virus

The narrative pivot for the final season rests on the shoulders of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). Despite his failing health, Butcher reappears in the trailer armed with the biological weapon developed during the events of Gen V: a virus capable of wiping every Supe off the face of the Earth.

“You wouldn’t be the first throwing your life away in a war,” Butcher tells the remaining members of his team in a rallying cry, “but you would be the first saving the world doing it.” Unlike previous seasons where the goal was to expose Vought, Season 5 presents a literal “Endgame” where Butcher appears willing to commit Supe-genocide to ensure Homelander’s fall.

The Supernatural Reunion and Soldier Boy’s Return

Fans of Kripke’s previous work have much to celebrate this season. The trailer confirms the highly anticipated Supernatural reunion, with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins officially joining the cast alongside series regular Jensen Ackles.

Ackles’ return as Soldier Boy is expected to be a major pillar of the final season. Kripke noted at CCXP Brazil that the production intentionally mined the “father-son drama” between Soldier Boy and Homelander, suggesting an uneasy and violent alliance that could be the only thing standing in Butcher’s way. Due to Ackles’ filming schedule for his other Prime Video series Countdown, much of Season 5 was reportedly filmed out of order to ensure his “big character” arc remained intact.

Release Schedule: The Final Countdown

Prime Video has confirmed a rapid-fire release schedule for the 8-episode final season:

April 8, 2026: Two-episode premiere.

Weekly Releases: Every Wednesday through April and May.

May 20, 2026: The series finale, titled to be an “unforgettable, epic” conclusion.

As the trailer concludes with a haunting shot of Homelander overlooking a burning Washington D.C., it’s clear that The Boys is not planning on a quiet exit. In the battle between the powerless and the super-powerful, the only certainty is that by May 20, the world will never be the same.
