DRIP CHECK: The “Armor of the Shadows” is officially the Coldest Set in Pywel! 🌑⚔️
Move over, Canta Plate! If you want to look like a legendary assassin while shredding bosses, you NEED the Armor of the Shadows. 😱 This isn’t just a set—it’s a statement. With a pitch-black matte finish and “stealth” stats that actually work, it’s the ultimate drip for every serious Greymane.
But be warned: it’s scattered across 4 hidden locations in the Hernand region, and most players walk right past them! From the secret cave at Everfrost Watchtower to the waterfall at Frostclaw, we’ve got the full map coordinates to complete the set. Don’t be a basic mercenary—become the shadow! 👇🔥

In the brutal world of Pywel, survival is paramount—but for many players, looking good while surviving is a close second. As Crimson Desert enters its second week post-launch, the community has identified its first “Holy Grail” of fashion: the Armor of the Shadows (also known as the Equipment of the Ruler of the Shadow Streets). While most early-game armor is a clunky mix of leather and brass, this set offers a sleek, blacked-out aesthetic that has “fashion-souls” enthusiasts on Reddit and X in a total frenzy.
The catch? Unlike the Canta Plate, you can’t just buy this set from a vendor. It is hidden in four distinct, highly missable locations, most of which require players to brave the elements and solve environmental puzzles.
The ‘Everfrost’ Chestplate: Hidden in Plain Sight
The centerpiece of the set—the Plate Armor of Shadows—is located north of the city of Hernand. Players are instructed to look for the Everfrost Watchtower (situated along the river above the “E” in Hernand on the world map).
“The chest isn’t in the tower itself,” noted one viral Reddit thread. “You have to climb the first level of the tower, look west, and find a small cave with a lamp out front. Light that lamp, and the bars blocking the chest will slide open.” This piece provides a significant jump in Physical Defense and is considered the “anchor” of the set’s dark aesthetic.
Finding the Boots and Cloak: Waterfalls and Ruins
The rest of the set requires a bit of a trek across the Hernand territory.
Plate Boots of Shadows: These are located at Frostclaw Cave. To find it, players must follow the river all the way west of Fort Warspike. Look for a waterfall; the boots are hidden in a chest behind the water curtain.
Plate Cloak of Shadows: This high-collared, tattered cape is found in a secret room within the Hoenmark Ruins. To access it, players have reported needing to “crouch and use Force Palm” on a specific floor slab to flip into a hidden sub-chamber.
The ‘Black-Dye’ Controversy
Interestingly, while the set is “black” by default, the community is already experimenting with Dyehouse mechanics to deepen the shadows. Since actual Black Dye is exceptionally rare, players are flocking to Theoric at the Hernand Dyehouse to purchase “Dark Red” dyes, which, when applied to the Shadow Set, create a deep, “Vantablack” effect that captures the “Night’s Cavalry” vibe many are craving.
A Quest for the Worthy?
While the pieces can be found via exploration, some players have reported a Chapter 7 quest involving a boss named Beloth at the Hoenmark Ruins that may offer the full set as a reward for those who missed the individual chests. However, for those in the early game (Chapter 3-4), the “Scavenger Hunt” method remains the only way to obtain the drip.
“It’s the best-looking armor in the game, hands down,” says one prominent Crimson Desert streamer. “It makes Kliff look like a character you’d actually fear, rather than just a guy in a rented suit of mail.”
The Verdict: Fashion or Function?
Stat-wise, the Armor of the Shadows is a mid-to-high tier plate set, outclassed only by late-game Abyss Gear or the Stag Lord’s heavy plate. However, its weight-to-defense ratio is surprisingly efficient, making it a favorite for players who want to maintain their mobility for Axiom Force traversal without sacrificing protection.
As the “Greymanes” continue to unfog the map of Pywel, the Shadow Set stands as a testament to the game’s reward for exploration. In a world of bright gold and shining steel, the mercenaries who choose the shadows are the ones truly turning heads.
