Coronation Street’s Cherylee Houston is a firm favourite playing Izzy Armstrong – but it turns out she has a rather famous partner

Coronation Street fans only just realising Izzy actress is married to co-star in real-life

Coronation Street fans have been left floored after discovering Izzy Armstrong star Cherylee Houston has a famous partner.

The actress shot to fame on the ITV soap – making her debut way back in 2010 as the new love interest of Kirk Sunderland (Andy Whyment). And it’s fair to say Underworld factory machinist Izzy became a hit with the soap’s loyal legion of fans. She’s also been involved in several big moments on the cobbles too.

From her romance with Gary (Mikey North) to getting sent to prison for a two-month stint back in 2016, Izzy’s time on the street has not been short of drama. However, away from the soap, fans are only just realising who Izzy actress Cherylee Houston is married to in real life.

Cherylee’s husband is Toby Hadoke – who is also an actor. Toby has appeared in the likes of Emmerdale, Shameless, and Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights – as well as running the XS Malarkey comedy club in Manchester.

Meanwhile, in 2021, Toby appeared on Coronation Street alongside his wife, playing a concerned neighbour of Izzy, Fergus. He was shown protecting the character during the pandemic, exposing the pressures faced by millions of disabled people during the lockdown.

Toby previously gushed about working with his partner: “She’s great as well. She’s such a good actor. I think it’s forgotten because she’s so brilliant at bringing attention to the importance of disability representation, she’s really good.”

And it wasn’t the first time Toby had appeared in Corrie. “If you delve into the archives you know, I once married Curly Watts. I was a vicar,” he previously shared. He added: “They wanted a young vicar at Curly Watts’ wedding. If you go back it was about 747 years ago. That was just a one-off.”

In a recent post on a Corrie Facebook fan page, fans shared their surprise about Cherylee and Toby’s romance. Underneath a photo of Cherylee and Toby, one person wrote: “How come I recognise him?”

A second explained: “Toby Hafoka! He’s an actor/writer/standup comedian.” Gobsmacked, a third chimed in: “I remember him from Corrie I think, didn’t know at the time they were together.” Another then penned: “Same! Think he was in Hollyoaks as well.”
