Six Months Later, There’s Still Stuff In Clair Obscur That Nobody Has Managed To Find

🚨 Six months deep into the shadows of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the game’s director just dropped a bombshell—there are secrets buried so deep, NO ONE has cracked them yet.

You’ve slain bosses, unlocked manors, chased the Paintress across The Continent… but what if the real ghosts are still whispering from the code? Hidden rooms? Forgotten lore? Or something that could rewrite your entire playthrough? The tease hits harder than a perfect parry—untouched treasures waiting for the bold.

Will YOU be the one to unearth them before the new update buries them deeper? The hunt calls…

Uncover the director’s cryptic hints and join the search:

It’s been almost six months since Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released. In that time, I’m sure many of you have explored every inch of The Continent on your quest to take down The Paintress. Or maybe not, as according to the game’s director, six months in, there are still secrets hidden in the game that nobody has managed to unearth.

Okay, that might not technically be true, but only because Clair director Guillaume Broche hasn’t been watching everybody’s gameplay all of the time. However, when speaking to Eurogamer, Broche revealed that there are secrets in Expedition 33 he doesn’t believe have been discovered yet, even though more than five million of us have either played or are playing through Sandfall’s debut game.

You Haven’t Seen Everything Clair Obscur Has To Offer

Broche was asked if there are secrets hidden in Clair that haven’t been uncovered, to which he replied yes, but then stopped short of revealing what those secrets are, since doing so would reveal them to the world. He did add that there’s a chance they have been discovered and whoever found them simply hasn’t shared the evidence online, but until that happens, I think it’s fair to still consider them secrets.

While The Continent is a pretty vast in-game world with a lot of hidden areas, it’s pretty surprising that there are still things hiding within it that nobody outside of the game’s developers has ever seen. Particularly when you look back on how quickly some of Expedition 33’s other secrets were discovered.

The subtle nod to Final Fantasy 8 in Clair’s Gestral Village, for example, was found almost immediately. Clair players quickly stumbled upon characters trading Double Dyad cards back and forth, which is a top of the hate to Final Fantasy 8’s triple triad card game. There are even ‘secrets’ players have discovered that weren’t supposed to be secrets at all.

Broche noted in the same interview that players have discovered things that weren’t supposed to be secrets at all, but in the interest of wanting to keep fans happy, he and the team just played along. As for what exactly we haven’t found yet, there really is no way of knowing until we stumble upon new things. Even then, we won’t know they’re the secrets Broche is referencing unless he confirms as much.

If you plan on trying to find whatever it is Broche is hinting at, you’d better make it quick. The Continent is only going to get bigger after Sandfall revealed, to celebrate hitting five million copies sold, Clair Obscur is getting a significant new update. The new content will include more bosses, additional outfits, and a whole new area that isn’t a part of the base game.
