Squid Game creator and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk explained the mysterious credits scene found in Season 2 that gives a hint on what to expect in Season 3.

As if one giant killing doll isn’t terrifying enough for the players in Squid Game, series creator revealed they will be adding another murdering doll for Season 3! The epic Korean horror show has captured fans’ hearts since 2021, and with the release of a new season, the thrill and grit continue to entertain viewers around the world.

Season 2 definitely increased the tension in the story with a shocking and bloody finale episode, but what’s more intriguing is the mysterious credits scene that seems to hint at a future character that we should expect in the upcoming installment.

Squid Game Season 2 revealed a clue on what’s coming in Season 3

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, series creator and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk explained the biggest reveal in Squid Game Season 2, and this includes a glimpse of the horror that fans will have to anticipate.

That’s actually a [sneak peek] of Cheol-su, who, like Young-hee, is a new giant doll that we’re going to be showcasing in season 3. And that’s also a hint at the most exciting game in season 3 as well. So, while it hasn’t been shared yet, I hope everyone will be excited to meet Cheol-su and the new game.

Also known as The Doll, Young-hee is a large motion-sensing animatronic doll most famously remembered in Season 1 during the Red Light, Green Light game. Her eyes will scan the movements of players to see if any of them are still moving after hearing the ‘red light’ signal. Those who fail to comply will be eliminated by the same terror doll.

Now, with the hint of a possible new giant machine, fans can assume that we’re getting a similar game in Season 3. This was an extremely tough and nerve-wracking challenge for the players so it’s expected to scare the hell out of viewers.

Cheol-su was actually first teased by the director in 2022 after the announcement of a series renewal.

It’s definitely going to be more exciting for fans – not so much for Gi-hun and other players – as we look forward to meeting Young-hee’s boyfriend in the near future.

The idea of Squid Game has been around for more than a decade, but the initial plan did not get off the ground as it struggled to find financiers and actors. Indeed, there is a time for everything as the show unexpectedly took the world by storm during the pandemic era.
