Actor Park Gyu-Young may have inadvertently spoiled a massive plot twist in Squid Game Season 3. Park played a North Korean defector Kang No-eul / Pink Guard 011 in Season 2. Internet sleuths obsessed over Park’s now-deleted Instagram post (per The Mirror), which was a photo of her on set, behind the scenes. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the image save for another actor in the frame. They were both unmasked and wore Pink Guard jumpsuits, but the untagged actor’s profile was quite visible; fans noted he resembled Lee Jin Wook, the actor who played Park Gyeong-seok. The character first appeared in Season 2, Episode 2 as an amusement park employee.
#ParkGyuYoung accidentally posted a major spoiler for #SquidGame3 sharing a photo of herself in a pink soldier outfit while on set. Itwas quickly deleted, but not before it spread widely online, which sparked speculation. No-eul and Gyeong-seok had intertwined storylines in Squid Game Season 2. Both joined the game to save their daughters, but No-eul was recruited as a mid-rank Pink Guard while Gyeong-seok was a participant. No-eul and Gyeong-seok worked at the same park, and the latter’s daughter was a fan of the No-eul’s costume mascot. No-eul discovered Gyeong-seok’s desperate situation but thought she would never see him again. She spotted Gyeonng-seok later as a Squid Game contestant. No-eul’s strict adherence to the elimination rules miffed the other Pink Guards, who were sparing wounded players to harvest their organs afterward. No-eul made every effort to spare Gyeong-seok, but he was shot during Gi-hun’s revolt in the season finale.
Player 246 Could Make A Surprise Return In Squid Game Season 3
Park’s Instagram post was immediately deleted. If confirmed, the leak could mean Gyeong-seok did not die in Season 2, and No-eul found a way to pull him out from the casualties. Gyeong-seok would have then disguised as one of the Pink Guards overseeing the games, just like what Hwang Jun-ho did in Season 1. This potential leak comes after Netflix accidentally revealed Season 3’s release date; fans have since spotted more Season 2 mistakes after revisiting and scrubbing scenes from episodes.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the story ends in Season 3. “It’s the craziest one. It’s a crazy, crazy, crazy season. It’s the best season finale,” he told Deadline. He previously admitted the show was meant to run for only one season, but he reconsidered after Squid Game‘s breakout success. Hwang also said Netflix plans to expand the Squid Game franchise with spinoff projects, which include David Fincher’s English-language adaptation of the series. Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality TV show based on the mainline series, already released on Netflix from November to December 2023.
