The trailer for the upcoming Superman film was just released, and the biggest takeaway from it is that Nicholas Hoult looks nothing like Lex Luthor.

The trailer for the upcoming Superman film has just been released, and it seems like the current Lex Luthor has taken heavy inspiration from Hitman’s Agent 47. He looks nothing like the Lex Luthor in the comic books.

Luthor has played a key role as Superman’s archenemy for decades, and a Superman film without him feels incomplete. However, the costume, hair, and makeup team for the upcoming film have taken the character in a very different direction.
Nicholas Hoult copied the wrong homework

Nicholas Hoult does not look anything like Luthor from the comic books; he appears to be too frail and short in comparison. Hoult appears more like Agen 47 from Hitman than Luthor due to his wardrobe and makeup.
Hoult might not have been the best casting decision taken by the director, James Gunn, who is best known for the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. He seems to have gone a little off with his supervillain.

Tbf when I first saw this scene my first thought was of Hitman.

Now I really want to see Nicholas Hoult as Hitman 47

The trailer for the upcoming Superman film does not do a very nice job of exposing to the audience what they should expect from the film. It is a scattered arrangement of unrelated sequences that does not bind well into any narrative.
This is largely why Lex Luthor’s introduction seemed off to people because he was not exposed properly; he was placed in between unrelated shots that did not contribute to or compliment one another, which disconnected the audience. However, one powerful scene from the teaser allows fans to draw comparisons with Zack Snyder’s 2013 film
Hoult will need to sell the character of Luthor with his acting in the upcoming Superman film

Hoult’s acting is the only weapon left that might help in making people believe that he really is Lex Luthor and not Hitman’s Agent 47. A lot is riding on his shoulders at the moment.
Nothing can be said for certain about the reception the film might get as of now since there is still time before the release. However, if we see more trailers from it, then it would be better to make Hoult appear more like Luthor this time. People seem to be reacting positively to Henry Cavill’s replacement.
This might help the creators establish the character in a positive light again and subside the act that he looked nothing like Luthor in the first few glimpses. What do you think he looked like in the trailer? Let us know in the comments below.
