The Actor James Cameron Cast in Aliens Became a Video Game Legend By Playing Call of Duty’s Most Hated Villain

James Cameron’s Aliens wouldn’t have been possible without this one actor who also played a legendary villain in Call of Duty.

Modern Warfare and Aliens

James Cameron has given us tons of movies that have gone down in the books. However, nothing comes close to the Aliens, a 1986 Sci-Fi classic that’s considered to be one of the best movies in its particular genre.

Cameron put together a team of the industry’s best actors and minds to bring this movie to the big screen. One of them was Lance Henriksen, who also played a character in Call of Duty, who is despised by every single fan in the franchise.

Lance Henriksen is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. The actor is known for his intense performances, and it’s his skills that allowed the android Bishop in the Alien series to become one of the most memorable characters. However, Henriksen made a name for himself in the video gaming industry by playing General Shepard in 2009’S Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

That’s right, Henriksen is the man responsible for voicing one of the most feared and hated villains in the franchise. Initially, Shepherd was a highly respected U.S. military leader in the game. Task Force 141 put down their entire trust in him and felt that he was committed to the mission.

However, things took a dark turn when it was revealed that Shepherd had his own personal army, called the Shadow Company, that was involved in doing all the shady things behind the scenes.

In one of the most shocking twists, Shepherd decides to betray Task Force 141 and kills Roach and Ghost. That’s not all; he burned their bodies, much to the anger of Captain Price. In the future, it’s also revealed to us that Shepherd was the one who pulled strings to the events that led to World War 3.

Shepherd’s betrayal was truly a mind-shattering moment in Call of Duty and made the character a villain to fear. However, the character would’ve never achieved the heights it has without Henriksen’s work on the character.

Rumors suggest Modern Warfare 2 is coming to Game Pass. (Image via Microsoft)

If you’ve forgotten, Microsoft completed its Activision Blizzard acquisition back in October 2023. After that, in July, Game Pass got its hand on the first Call of Duty game, the 2023’s Modern Warfare 3.

Soon, Black Ops 6 followed the path and became the first entry in the long-running franchise to have a day-one release on Microsoft’s subscription service.

Many thought that might be the end of the run for Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass, but that’s not the case. According to XboxEra, Modern Warfare 2 will soon be joining the service. It’s crucial to keep in mind that this is the original game from 2009, not the 2022 title of the same name.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be ready to play on Microsoft’s service either in March or April 2025. It’s likely that March will be the release month since April is packed. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and South of Midnight are all set for day-one releases on Game Pass in April, alongside Commandos: Origins.

With that said, do you think General Shepard is one of the best villains in Call of Duty? Let us know in the comments below.
