The Elder Scrolls 6 'official' title leaves fans divided

The Elder Scrolls fans are divided over the potential name of the sixth-numbered entry of the ever-popular fantasy RPG series.

The Elder Scrolls series has been around for decades with the first game in the Bethesda series releasing in 1994 on the MS-DOS. Since that time, the series has garnered millions of fans worldwide who are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of The Elder Scrolls VI.

The trouble for all those waiting for the arrival of The Elder Scrolls VI is that Bethesda hasn’t made it public when the highly anticipated game will be released. Keep in mind that it was announced nearly seven years ago at E3 2018, an event that has long been dead.

The radio silence from Bethesda is why we’re constantly having to rely on the flurry of rumours in the hope that at some point, some of the information proves to be true until the Microsoft-owned studio releases all the juicy details.

Official details on The Elder Scrolls VI are so scarce that not only do we not know its release date, but we don’t know anything about its plot, setting or even its full title. However, we may have the have the answer to one of those missing links.

As reported by Twisted Voxel, insider and YouTuber eXtas1s is claiming that the game is to simply be titled Hammerfell, which has long been the game’s rumoured setting.

In a new video, the insider also detailed that they heard the game would feature 12 to 13 major cities.

Hammerfell is one of the largest regions to the west of Tamriel, so if The Elder Scrolls VI carries its name, it kind of makes sense, if true.

“The Elder Scrolls VI is allegedly titled ‘Hammerfell’. Nice, sounds good so far,” wrote Shepherdsfavestore in a Reddit thread responding to the news.

“My excitement for The Elder Scrolls VI just ‘Hammerfell’ off a cliff,” joked a seemingly unenthusiastic Reddit user.

Much of the thread was also sceptical on the prospect of naval combat and shipbuilding, also mentioned by Twisted Voxel.

Of course, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, especially when it concerns The Elder Scrolls VI. Hopefully, Bethesda will finally release some official news at some point this year.
