Rumours of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remake have fans hyped, promising a full gameplay overhaul.

Originally released in 2006 on PC and Xbox 360, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is my favourite entry in the popular fantasy RPG series from Bethesda. Way back when, I maxed out all my achievements for the base game and its Shivering Isles expansion, countless hours that I do not regret losing.

Rumours of an Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remake have been around for quite some time but in recent days, those rumours have picked up a lot more traction, although it’s important to take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

Some fans may have assumed that the Oblivion remake might be barebones with a visual upgrade and some gameplay tweaks made. However, that does not appear to be the case, that’s at least according to a report from MP1ST.

It’s claimed that the Oblivion remake be handled by Virtuos who has assisted development on games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Dead Island 2 and Hogwarts Legacy, as well as the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater with Konami.

Reportedly, the Oblivion remake will not only be powered by Unreal Engine 5 but it will be a full remake built from the ground up which suggests that it will come with a whole host of gameplay and quality-of-life improvements.

The report claims that combat will be improved including archery, blocking, stealth, stamina, with the game receiving an updated HUD. There will also be improvements to NPC hit reactions which might suggest that characters will react more naturally when in combat situations.

I’m a firm believer in there being no smoke without fire and I certainly hope this is the case with the rumoured remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
