The Rarest Clair Obscur Achievement Has Only Been Acquired By 2% Of Players On Steam, Here’s Why It’s So Hard

🎮 “The rarest Clair Obscur achievement has only been earned by 2% of players on Steam, and here’s why it’s so hard to unlock.”
If you’ve been playing Clair Obscur, you know it’s a game filled with challenges, but there’s one achievement that only 2% of players have unlocked.

One of the hardest achievements in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been obtained by less than a tenth of PC players. Clair Obscur isn’t a super achievement-heavy game; there are 55 of them to be earned, and most of them can be gotten simply by playing through the main story with the occasional diversion. There are a few outliers, though; lots of achievements require you to beat a superboss, or explore a great deal of the map, or discover lots of hidden areas. If you really take your time, you could spend over 100 hours completing them all.

But while I thought the rarest achievements would be related to secret bosses most players never bother to find, let alone take the time to beat, that’s actually not the case. As it turns out, the rarest achievements in Clair Obscur revolve around its collectibles. It makes sense – these tend to be spread out sporadically all around the map, and you’d have to spend a lot of time on a concentrated effort to find them all in a single playthrough. However, when it comes to achievements, one particular type of collectible really takes the cake.

“Connoisseur” Is The Rarest Achievement For Clair Obscur On Steam

Collect All The Records

The rarest achievement for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is, somewhat surprisingly, “Connoissseur.” This achievement requires you to collect all available music records scattered throughout the game – of which there are, quite appropriately, 33. Only 9.5% of players on Steam have obtained it – the next rarest achievement is “Follow the Trail,” with 9.6%, which similarly charges you with collecting all the previous expeditions’ journals.

Records can be used back at camp to play a variety of music from the game. My personal favorite was also the first one I got: “Lumière,” the song that plays during the game’s prologue – I found it made a good reminder of what the expedition was fighting for, and was otherwise just thematically and sonically appropriate. I made a point of listening to it every time I made camp, although I switched to “Lettre Ă  Maelle” about halfway through my playthrough, and eventually came to prefer “Alicia” (if you know, you know).

Why The “Connoisseur” Achievement Is So Hard To Get

A Good Record Is Hard To Find

The simple fact of the matter is that “Connoisseur” is so hard to get because some of those records are really hard to find. You have to poke your nose in all sorts of odd places: getting into all the rooms in the Manor, beating certain hidden bosses, finding certain secret merchants, et cetera. You’ll even have to search some pretty lengthy and complicated optional areas, like Frozen Hearts, to find where some of them are squirreled away. Some of them require you to solve tricky secret puzzles, like pulling all the switches in the manor, to unlock.

A few records are even tied to certain characters’ relationship levels – you have to hit level six with Lune, Sciel, and Monoco respectively to unlock the records of their personal leitmotifs. Note that this is indeed possible in a single playthrough: even though you can’t romance both Sciel and Lune, you can still max out their relationship levels while remaining platonic with (at least) one of them. Many records are even missable; if you go too far in the story, you may not be able to return for them later.

So, while this achievement isn’t impossible, it requires pretty much constant vigilance, not to mention some serious skill (and probably at least a little bit of luck). It’s no surprise, then, that “Connoisseur” is the rarest achievement in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – it might also be the hardest.
