Players don’t have too many complaints when it comes to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but there’s one mechanic that will frustrate you to no end if you don’t know how to manage it properly. This has to deal with the parkour physics in the game, particularly the rolling mechanic that occurs after you jump from one platform to another. This can be extremely frustrating, depending on the area, and if you’ve been to any of the parkour-based locations throughout the game that require major platforming skills, there’s no doubt you know what I’m talking about.

Clair Obscur‘s parkour mechanics feature a unique mechanic that forces characters to do a somersault roll every time they land when jumping from one platform to the next. However, there’s actually a simple way to get around this. This function allows you to cancel out the rolling function when you land, and it makes nightmarish areas like the Ascension Tower, any of the Painting Workshops, or the Gestral Beach Parkour Course a million times more manageable.

Improving your parkour skills and making life way easier is as simple as a well-timed push of a button when you land. You can cancel out the roll during a parkour jump by hitting the attack button (R1 for PlayStation, RB for Xbox, or F on PC) when you land, which prevents you from rolling unnecessarily off a ledge when navigating tricky parkour areas. This is especially useful in areas like the Gestral Beach Ascension Tower or the Gestral Parkour Course, where an unfortunate roll could mean starting these challenges over completely.

There aren’t many control issues in Clair Obscur, but the platforming can certainly pose a problem for players during specific challenges.
