It’s one of the reasons people read it and it stands alone in that sense. But I’m always realistic. I’m sure everyone will be happy if they’re like, ‘Oh, can you just do a satisfying ending in season 4 because we don’t make shows that long anymore’.

The truth is, the property doesn’t lend itself well to that. My job is to do everything I can to get it to the end and give you Jordan’s ending because it’s so powerful. It really does stick the landing. If we don’t, my job is to make sure we’re telling a great story up to that point.

However, the main cast has remained consistent and will carry over into the next chapter as well. This means that Rosamund Pike will be back as Moiraine Damodred, and she’ll be joined by her faithful Warder, al’Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney).

Continuing his journey as the Dragon Reborn, expect to see Josha Stradowski back in the role of Rand al’Thor. Meanwhile, Rand’s pals from Emond’s Field should also be back, including Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, and Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon. On the villainous side of things, Fares Fares should be back as Ishamael (aka Ba’alzamon), the loyal servant of The Dark One. As has been the case with every season thus far, the fourth installment will likely add a slew of new names as well.

Which Books Will Be Adapted Next?

Unlike previous seasons of The Wheel of Time which handled multiple books at once, season 3 is exclusively adapting the events of book 4 (The Shadow Rising). However, it remains to be seen if the whole fourth novel will be covered, or if season 4 will need to backtrack to pick up key moments from the 1,000-page tome. If the show moves on to book 5 (The Fires of Heaven) some story tweaking will be necessary due to the fractured narrative. For the first time in the book series, the ta’veren isn’t all present, and Perrin does not appear in the book at all.

Most likely, season 4 could combine books 5 and 6 (Lord of Chaos) in order to cover the crucial politicking that Rand must undertake in The Fires of Heaven while still advancing the battle against The Dark One as seen in book 6. Whatever The Wheel of Time season 4 chooses to do from a story perspective, it’s clear that the show must begin picking up the pace or else it may get cut short without presenting most of Robert Jordan’s sprawling narrative.
