Roderick de Wett, a knight wearing red and silver armour Netflix’s The Witcher series is poised to get its fourth season at some point this year. It’ll be the first season without Henry Cavill, as Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt of Rivia.

Beyond that, there are plenty of other additions to the cast. Actor Jack Myers is one of them, although like other actors joining the show, his role is yet to be confirmed.

However, The Witcher-focussed news outlet Redanian Intelligence claims to have learned who he is playing: Roderick de Wett from The Witcher – as in, the first Witcher game. If true, this would make Roderick the first character invented for the games to appear in the Netflix show, as the two adaptations have largely remained separated thus far.

As highlighted by Redanian Intelligence, Roderick de Wett is related to a character from the books – Joachim de Wett. However, Roderick is an invention of CD Projekt Red, so his inclusion in the show is a first for the Netflix series.

From the get-go, the Netflix show has been very different from the games, only drawing from the books. However, it has made changes to this source material too, which was proven to be incredibly controversial with fans. This was made worse when The Witcher’s creator Andrzej Sapkowski said that he gave the team behind the show some ideas, but wasn’t listened to. That said, Sapkowski not being keen on an adaptation of his work is hardly anything new.

We’ll have to wait and see if Season 4 – and Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt – can win over fans. In the meantime, we’re still waiting to hear when it will premiere on Netflix. After that, the series will get its fifth and final season.
