Stand-up comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani is a well-known figure in the entertainment industry. Apart from his work in Hollywood, he has also explored the world of video games, voicing various characters in iconic video games. He has been a fan of video games for quite some time now, in fact, he even began hosting a video game-themed podcast, The Indoor Kids, in 2011.

In one of his past interviews, Nanjiani talked about his favorite video game: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Skyrim is widely considered one of the greatest games of all time, but Nanjiani believes that there is one thing in the game that turned out to be a disappointment.

In September 2024, actor Kumail Nanjiani appeared on the TigerBelly podcast and had a brief conversation about video games with Bobby Lee. During the conversation, Lee asked Nanjiani if he has played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and he swiftly revealed that it was his favorite video game. However, he has one complaint about the game. When Lee revealed that players couldn’t kill much when they turned into a werewolf, Nanjiani said, “It’s sort of like they added it to be cool, but it doesn’t quite work.“
Skyrim allows players to turn into werewolves by completing The Companions quests or the Ill Met By Moonlight quest. As exciting as it sounds, it seems like the experience of becoming a werewolf is quite underwhelming. In fact, many fans have asked Bethesda to make this concept better in the next Elder Scrolls game. Further in the interview, Lee and Nanjiani talked about Starfield, a game that was not well-received by the fans.

Later in the interview, Nanjiani explained that he would love to try out Elden Ring because he loves the fantasy genre. As a kid, he loved the Lord of the Rings movies, which turned him into a huge fan of the fantasy genre. He said,
I want to get into Elder Ring because for me the fantasy world is my favorite genre… I love space stuff obviously, but since I was a kid my favorite movies are Lord of the Rings, I used to love all the sword and sorcery movies that were there in the 80s and 90s, so I want to play like a great fantasy game.
Elden Ring is certainly a great game but its merciless gameplay can force gamers to spend hours fighting the same boss. It is hard to say if Nanjiani will have enough time for the game’s demanding gameplay since he’s one of the most popular actors in the world right now.
The actor gained recognition for his role as Dinesh in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley (2014–2019) and for co-writing and starring in the romantic comedy film The Big Sick. He has various projects lined up such as Ella McCay, a movie by James L. Brooks, and Poker Face, a TV show by Rian Johnson.
