The promotional price is due until July 10, when the Steam Summer Sale comes to an end. This bundle includes all the contents of the base game plus access to the contents of the DLC. This also includes any ongoing Event hunts that players can still partake in and haven’t expired.

The game and its DLC are also being offered at a promotional cost on the Nintendo Store for Switch. As seen on the bundle’s page on Nintendo Store, Monster Hunter Wilds + Sunbreak Deluxe Edition has a 71% discount, reducing the price from $69.99 to $19.99. The standard bundle for Nintendo doesn’t have a discount, and this is only true for the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition of the game and its DLC contain unique layered armor pieces and cosmetics, like gestures, poses, and hairstyles. Like the Steam Summer Sale, the discount for the Nintendo version lasts until July 10.

However, the truth is that players could, potentially, spend a lot more time with the game and its expansion. There is a saying among the series’ community that Monster Hunter games only really start after you’ve completed the main campaign. This is because the campaign is merely a way of introducing you to the game’s mechanics while offering a gentle learning curve. Usually, after you beat the main campaign in a Monster Hunter game, you unlock High-Rank Hunts, allowing you to face monsters at higher difficulties and even fight new ones that weren’t previously available.

At the same time, you unlock High-Rank armor and weapons, so that you can keep up with the newly added difficulties that you continue to unlock as you upgrade your Hunter Rank. Usually, this is also the point where you unlock Layered Armor, which allows you to use any time of armor but coat it with a cosmetic that pertains to another armor set, as a means of customizing your character’s clothes to your liking. As such, you can use the best armor in the game and essentially paint it with Magnamalo’s layered armor in Monster Hunter Rise, for example.

Continuously farming different armor sets and weapons, especially if you swap your top-tier gear depending on the creature you’re hunting, can take a lot of time, significantly extending how much time you spend with the game. When considering how much gameplay time you’ll have with it, the Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak bundle may well be worth the discounted price. Monster Hunter Rise is one of the best games in the series, especially when considering players’ reviews. According to Metacritic, Rise has an 8.4 user score, while its Metascore rests at 88 points. The DLC Sunbreak is also well-evaluated, with a 7.9 user score and an 86 Metascore on Metacritic. For the purpose of comparison, Monster Hunter World has a 7.8 user score and a 90 Metascore on Metacritic. The most recent installment in the series, Monster Hunter Wilds has an 88 Metascore and a 7.2 user score on Metacritic.

Aside from numerical scores, Rise was also praised by critics at its release. There are several other aspects of the game that make it one of the best. Personally, I enjoy how fast-paced the game is. The hunt times are shorter, though they still retain the increasing level of difficulty as you grow through the ranks. The wirebug mechanics, exclusive to this game, are also fantastic, giving you great movement speed through biomes as you fight monsters. Monster Hunter Rise is my favorite entry in the series, and with the discount, there is a chance it could also become yours.
