It’s no wonder games like Everstone Studios’ Where Winds Meet – a Wuxia-style RPG set in China’s Ten Kingdoms era – seem to be flying under the radar with all the exciting new RPGs coming out in 2025. Where Winds Meet was initially set as a PC exclusive, but a PlayStation 5 version was recently announced for 2025 and can be Wishlisted now on the PlayStation Store. When it releases in the New Year, fans of Black Myth: Wukong, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, or Ghost of Tsushima will certainly want to try Where Winds Meet for its intense martial-arts combat and rich narrative.
Currently, Where Winds Meet is available for PC in Chinese markets, but a wider 2025 release has not been given a specific date. Gameplay will incorporate adventure elements from action RPGs as well as fast-paced Black Myth: Wukong– or Sekiro-style Soulslike swordplay and combat, though not nearly as hard. With a completely open world that truly encourages freedom of exploration, Where Winds Meet also has a highly customizable character creation menu and a complete multiplayer experience, including multiple PvP modes, cooperative play, raids, and more. Here’s a look at Where Winds Meet and what to expect when it launches on PS5 in 2025.
Where Winds Meet Will Have A Compelling Story
The Five Dynasties And Ten Kingdoms Era Is Rich In History And Lore
In a PlayStation Blog post earlier this year, Where Winds Meet’s production company, Everstone, detailed some of the gameplay and story details. Where Winds Meet is set in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Era of Imperial China, taking place around the year 900, primarily in South China, but with Wuxia-style combat which incorporates supernatural elements such as breathing fire or scaling cliffs: “think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or House of The Flying Daggers.” The historical period of focus “was a time of great turbulence and change and represents the perfect setting for our young hero to carve their path and discover their destiny.”
The story will follow a “young swordsman or swordswoman” as they navigate the rivalries of the Five Dynasties and influence the outcome of warring factions. The protagonist learns of their identity as the game progresses while the player simultaneously learns some of the intricacies and conflicts of the time period. The main character’s Wuxia abilities stem from a connection with nature, and they will be able to learn new abilities by interacting with animals around the world. There will also be a range of both friendly and hostile NPCs along the way, and player decisions will impact these characters’ fates.
Where Winds Meet Gameplay Includes Wuxia Combat & Chinese Martial Arts
Wuxia Abilities In Where Winds Meet Apply To Both Combat And Exploration

The Wuxia-inspired gameplay in Where Winds Meet features mystical abilities that allow players to “use the mystical power of Qinggong to run up sheer cliffs or across the shimmering surface of water at high speed.” Wuxia abilities become useful in both combat and exploration/adventure, such as with the Chi power that can be used “to stun enemies from a distance, or grasp objectives from far out of reach.” The animal powers that players acquire or mimic include breathing dragon fire, leaping vast distances like a toad, and a lion’s roar. Fighting skills highlight traditional Chinese Kung Fu in addition to moves that “defy the laws of physics.”
“Weapons are an important part of the player’s combat ability,” and the game features a diverse array of weapon options, from spears to fan blades and even umbrellas. The “Accupoint Hit” can freeze enemies, at least temporarily, while the “Chi Grip” allows players to disarm opponents before a counter. Enemies will also be influenced by the supernatural Wuxia elements, with raging bears and mythical dragons and serpents. Gameplay also features simple to complex puzzles that require understanding and strategic use of the unique Wuxia talents and skills. Where Winds Meet promises to give players a vast open world full of diverse enemies.
Where Winds Meet On PS5 Includes Popular RPG Features
Gameplay In Where Winds Meet Will Be Optimized For The PS5

Overall, Where Winds Meet incorporates popular features from similar action games in the space, from the Wukong-esque hack-and-slash supernatural martial arts combat to the vast open worlds vis-à-vis The Witcher or Elden Ring – there’s no doubt of influence from Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima as well. Despite these similarities, Where Winds Meet looks to be a unique and compelling RPG experience, especially on the PS5, where developers have promised to “[optimize] the game for PlayStation 5 and for the PS5 DualSense controller.” With the full capabilities of the DualSense available, Where Winds Meet has the potential to surpass its contemporaries.
Fans of fast-paced martial arts RPGs that aren’t keen on the difficulty of games like Sekiro, Elden Ring, or Black Myth: Wukong will certainly appreciate Where Winds Meet.
Where Winds Meet is currently available in China on PC, but will release on PlayStation 5 very soon, and it can be added to Wishlists on the PlayStation Store now. The game is visually stunning, with historically appropriate architecture and towns, but with dynamic settings, characters, and boss animations that parallel some of the successful games mentioned above. Fans of fast-paced martial arts RPGs that aren’t keen on the difficulty of games like Sekiro, Elden Ring, or Black Myth: Wukong will certainly appreciate Where Winds Meet, though it looks like there will be a little something for everyone.
