Timothée Chalamet has lost the Best Actor Oscar for the second time in his career. The star of A Complete Unknown made a surprising statement at the SAG Awards, where he won Best Actor, that he wanted to be one of the greats in the history of cinema. However, the journey seems to be still longer as he lost to Adrien Brody for The Brutalist.

The actor reportedly underwent hard training to embody Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic. Chalamet reportedly took the Leonardo DiCaprio school of acting and prepared extensively for the role, learning to sing and play hundreds of the Nobel Prize-winning musician, but still lost the award.

When Timotheè Chalamet won the SAG award for Best Actor for his role in A Complete Unknown, he admitted that he was in pursuit of cinematic greatness and invoked legendary stars such as Al Pacino and Viola Davis. The actor seemed to have prepared extensively for his role as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic, but the journey is going to be longer.

Chalamet lost the Best Actor Oscar to Adrien Brody, who won his second for The Brutalist. Chalamet was nominated along with actors like Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan. In a race that was anyone’s guess, the Dune: Part Two star’s loss is still sad due to the amount of work he put in for the role.

No acting role (especially Oscar nominated) is without hard work. But, Timotheè Chalamet reportedly trained for five years, learning to play the harmonica and the guitar, and sing classic Dylan songs (via Collider). He reportedly sang over forty songs as Dylan. However, none of this seems to have resulted in the big prize for the actor.

A Complete Unknown is Chalamet’s second Oscar nomination. He was first nominated for his incredible performance in Call Me By Your Name, when he was just 24.

In many ways, Timotheè Chalamet’s career mirrors that of Leonardo DiCaprio’s acting journey. Both actors started off young and became teenage heartthrobs, choosing to tackle more dramatic and intense roles instead of easy fame parts. Both have worked with some incredible directors and have become A-listers very early in their careers.

With Chalamet’s second loss, he has more in common with DiCaprio, who, until The Revenant, had become a meme for getting Oscar snubs four times before winning. In fact, the Titanic star even reportedly gave him career advice, which Chalamet has mostly stuck to (via British Vogue),

No hard dr*gs and no superhero movies.

Despite being an A-lister, Chalamet has yet to choose an MCU or DCU role, and apart from the Dune franchise, he seems to have no other blockbuster franchise in his kitty.
