Legendary wrestler and WWE star Hulk Hogan has died following a cardiac arrest just a few hours ago, as TMZ reports that medics were dispatched but couldn’t keep the former wrestler alive.

The wrestler, who had his biopic in the works at Netflix with Chris Hemsworth attached as the lead role, couldn’t make the deal work out, and the film was eventually scrapped. However, it seems that before his death, the retired wrestler had some things to say about his canceled biopic.

Amidst declining health and being 71 years old, Hulk Hogan revealed in an interview with the PDB podcast that the film was scrapped because a certain payment wasn’t made on time.

They kind of missed a beat in the contract, yeah. There was a payment that wasn’t placed at the right time.

Despite the failed project, Hulk Hogan was still happy reminiscing about the script that was “Very, very dark” and how he actually wanted to see his biopic unfold.

Why Hulk Hogan’s “Very Dark” Biopic Never Saw The Light of Day

Being a legendary wrestler, Hulk Hogan had seen plenty of things during his time at the WWE. Working alongside former CEO Vince McMahon, the two essentially put WWE on the map, and Hulk Hogan was the central star of the wrestling network.

Before his untimely passing, it was announced that a biopic about the legendary star would be made (around the same time Vince McMahon got his docudrama, Mr. McMahon).

Although things were going smoothly and MCU star Chris Hemsworth was attached as the lead star in the biopic, things suddenly went silent. As Hogan stated that it was an issue of payment, there was nothing anyone could do about it except scrap the project. However, the former wrestler did lament that the script was actually pretty good.

The script was amazing. Scott Silver, who wrote the script for Joker, Wolf of Wall Street, a bunch of other movies, said, ‘This is the best thing I’ve ever written.’ When I read it, I’m like, oh my god, this is really good. At the time, I was in a space where I told him the positive stuff about wrestling.

Hulk Hogan further continued,

When I read it, it was just very, very dark. When I read it I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, if this thing comes out…’ there was talk that Chris Hemsworth had never played a real person before and he could probably win an Oscar, this thing is so powerful.

Unfortunately, the project was scrapped and was never picked up again. Although Hulk Hogan wished that they would make a biopic about the life he had lived, the star never got to see his life on the big screen.

Hulk Hogan’s Controversial Legacy Deserves an Adaptation With Chris Hemsworth

With the wrestler’s unfortunate passing, Hulk Hogan’s canceled biopic seems like a stain on his legacy and a hurtful reminder of what an incomplete payment can lead to the cancellation of a legendary wrestler’s legacy.

Hulk Hogan’s legacy should be shown in full glory, with the former wrestler as he was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2005 and again in 2020 as part of the New World Order.

With the wrestler having won numerous awards and accolades across his rich career in wrestling, Hulk Hogan’s biopic should see the light of day. Following the wrestler’s demise, it is only fair that his legacy should be embraced with Chris Hemsworth portraying the lead role as Mr. Hogan himself.

From a controversial life of steroid use to receiving some backlash, Hulk Hogan was still the fan-favorite of almost all the ’80s and ’90s kids. After his unfortunate passing, Hulk Hogan’s legacy deserves a worthy biopic, and we would want Netflix to make it happen.
