Cruising around the streets of Los Santos and Sandy Shores was one of the highlights of Grand Theft Auto V.
With the streets being so familiar to us after driving through them for over a decade, it makes sense that many fans will be paying tribute to the route by taking one last cruise the night before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
However, with the map for GTA VI expected to be a lot larger than the one featured in GTA V, fans have been speculating as to how long it will take to loop around it.
Luckily for them, one dedicated fan has tried to work it out, based on the minimal knowledge Rockstar has provided us.
Taking to r/GTA6, user jakeaffrunti did an experiment, comparing how long it takes to drive around GTA V’s map to how long it could take us in GTA 6’s Vice City and surrounding areas.
“The loop I drew is around 41km long, while the route we know and love from V is about 21 km long,” they explained.
“Using my numbers from the few tests I did, that would mean it would take anywhere from 10.5-14 minutes to drive the GTA V route which sounds about right.”
But what does this mean for GTA VI’s highly anticipated map?
“So according to my very rough numbers, it should take anywhere from 20.5-27.3 minutes to get around the entire perimeter of the GTA VI map.”
The user acknowledges that this maths could be way off but it is a fun little experiment nonetheless and it will be interesting to see how close they were to the correct numbers.
For user Aminu_Bandz, they are holding out hope.
“I pray it’s that long or even longer to be honest. However I do hope the highway system is better designed unlike 5,” their comment read.
For Schwafty_, they have some big plans for our new protagonists.
“If they add hotels like in RDR2, I’m going to take Jason and Lucia and go on a road trip.
Long drive, following traffic laws, radio on taking a slow drive from wherever all the way to the Vice City hotels. I hope it in-game rains that day.”
Luckily, we have just a few months left before we find out how long it will actually take us to explore GTA VI’s map.
