PlayStation has been developing games without compromising the quality for a long time now. That is exactly why the fandom chooses a PlayStation console over an Xbox. However, recently, the gaming giant faced its biggest failure.
That failure is none other than concord, and according to a report, it cost $400 million to develop. Now, that’s a lot of money, especially for a project that failed miserably. That said, the same report reveals that the gaming giant has even more costly titles in development, which seems absurd.
Why it matters: Video games now cost and take more time to develop, so if they fail, it either causes massive layoffs or the closure of the developer.
Concord is The Biggest Failure In The History of Gaming
This information comes from Colin Moriarty, a former IGN journalist. He seems to have received the information from a trusted source. At first, he revealed that Concord’s actual cost was $400 million instead of $200 million and that it was being called the future of PlayStation.
He then revealed that there are even more expensive games in development, which seems crazy as PlayStation has just faced a massive failure.
There are games better in development right at Sony first and second party that are more expensive than this.

As of now, no other game Sony has released has a budget similar to Concord’s. However, the gaming giant seems to have even more expensive games in development right now. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 cost Sony over $300 million, triple the budget of its predecessor.
Sony Seems To Have Many Games in Development Costing Well Over $400 Million.So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Spider-Man 3 would cost over $400 million. That said, Moriarty said that there are games in development highlighting multiple titles costing more so it seems Sony has much more expensive projects going on.
Some God of War games and a new IP from both Santa Monica and Naughty Dogs also seem to be in development. Another costly project could be The Last of Us Part 3, as there seem to be many things hinting toward its development. So, Moriarty’s claim does make sense.
