Rumors suggest Diablo 4 is working on a Nintendo Switch 2 port to fight against the dominance of Path of Exile 2.

After years of speculation and debate, Nintendo finally gave us a look at Switch 2 on January 16. As we all already know, thanks to leaks, the Switch 2 is packed with a bigger screen, revamped Joy-Con controllers, and various other features.

However, just because Nintendo Switch 2 is finally confirmed, that doesn’t mean the rumor mill has come to an end. Brand-new leaks suggest that Diablo 4 could be making its way to the console, which could prove to be an absolute horror show for Path of Exile 2.

While we’re all busy enjoying Diablo 4‘s latest season and the brand-new additions, Blizzard is planning to take on the fight against Path of Exile 2 by making a full-fledged port for its game for Nintendo’s next-generation handheld.

The rumor, courtesy of YouTuber eXTas1s, suggests that Blizzard is working on porting Diablo 4 to Switch 2. That’s not all, though; Microsoft is also planning to port Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator alongside other games in its catalog.

It won’t be the first time we’ll see the Diablo series on the Nintendo Switch platform, as both Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 proved to be massive successes, pulling in thousands of handheld gamers. Considering the fact that Switch 2 packs quite a punch in terms of hardware, porting the latest Diablo 4 game makes sense.

If Blizzard’s latest RPG ends up making it on Switch 2, it’s going to be a massive problem for Path of Exile 2. It’s been a month since the release of Path of Exile 2, and it’s being projected as a Diablo killer. However, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s an absolute nightmare to get into as a beginner.

On the other hand, Diablo 4 is a much simpler game for a casual player to get into. Considering the success of the original Switch, the next handheld will have millions of buyers, and Diablo 4‘s accessibility will lure a great portion of them.

It’s great to see that one of the best RPGs in recent years will be available to play on what could be a generational-hit handheld. However, will Blizzard finally add an offline mode for Diablo 4 to support Switch 2?

It’s been two years since the release of Diablo 4, and Blizzard’s decision to push it out as a live-service game has been bashed constantly. Sure, the model does allow Blizzard to send out rapid updates for balance changes and updates, but the base game is packed with tons of content that could be enjoyed solo.

That’s not the only thing; we’ve seen developers shutting down servers for their old live-service games once they move on to future projects. What’s going to happen when Blizzard finally decides to develop Diablo 5?

For the sake of game preservation and solo experience, it’s high time that Blizzard gave us a full-fledged offline mode alongside the Switch 2 port. There’s no reason to constantly deny a fan-favorite request that doesn’t break the game in any way.
