Fnatic is possibly entering Marvel Rivals esports, following in the steps of other esports organisations as a big tournament approaches.
The UK-based esports organisation teased the potential expansion on February 26th, 2025 in a social media post.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fnatic shared an image of The Thing from Marvel’s Fantastic Four wearing a Fnatic jersey. The Thing arrived to NetEase Games‘ hero shooter title as part of its Season 1.5 update, which launched on February 21st.
An expansion into Marvel Rivals wouldn’t be an unrealistic prospect. Fnatic has experience in operating within the hero shooter genre, fielding an Overwatch 2 team competing in the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS).
Aside from the teaser, the organisation is yet to confirm its entrance into Marvel Rivals.
Fnatic is one of the largest esports organisations in the world, with teams across a range of titles including Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends and Call of Duty. In 2025, it currently operates teams across six games.
Fnatic isn’t the first organisation to post teasers before officially unveiling its entrance into a new esport. North American organisation Sentinels posted several teases before confirming its own entry into Marvel Rivals esports earlier this month. Virtus.pro also has a team ready for the upcoming tournament.
Is Marvel Rivals the Next Big Esports Scene?
Hero shooters lend themselves to competitive play and Marvel Rivals has every chance of becoming the next game to make its mark on the esports industry.
The game’s esports plans begin on March 8th, 2025 with the start of the Marvel Rivals Championship. Titled Eternal Night Falls, the competitive circuit is split into four regions where PC and console players compete for a share of a $14,500 (~£11.456) prize pool.
Despite plenty of interest in the game’s esports efforts following initial success, NetEase Games has already laid off Marvel Rivals developers based in North America after surpassing over 20 million downloads in the three months after release.
