What’s more, another high-octane first-person shooter that is an absolute blast and garnered a cult following is the Left 4 Dead series from Half-Life developer, Valve. Sadly, however, unlike Far Cry and much like Half-Life, in recent years, Left 4 Dead has, well, been left for dead and seemingly forgotten about by Valve.

Thankfully, if you’re after a modern game that helps scratch that Left 4 Dead itch with a hint of Far Cry, then look no further than this upcoming zombie multiplayer shooter from the indie team at Oneway Ticket Studio called The Midnight Walkers.

“Fight, loot, and survive in a PvPvE FPS extraction shooter set in Liberty Grand Center, a towering mega-complex overrun by deadly zombies and brutal bosses,” reads the description of the game on Steam. “Craft weapons, search for loot, or steal from other survivors. Escape with your life or descend deeper and discover its horrors.”

After watching its gameplay trailer, it does look like The Midnight Walkers has some promise and if you wanted an early taste of the game, its final public playtest is still currently active at the time of writing.

However, you need to act fast, because the final public playtest for The Midnight Walkers on PC ends on 1 March 2025.

For the time being, The Midnight Walkers is only announced for PC but if it proves to be a success, hopefully, we’ll eventually see it be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

No release date has been announced for The Midnight Walkers but it is expected to launch sometime between April and June this year.
