An X user’s rant against ABS-CBN and noontime show It’s Showtime is the talk of the town after Sofronio Vasquez became the first Filipino to win The Voice USA.
It can be recalled that before his 2024 stint on The Voice, Sofronio was a finalist on Showtime’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in 2019, and was named third runner-up. His TNT journey did not end there, but this time he was a coach to the contenders.
Upon the announcement of Sofronio’s victory on The Voice, Michael Buble’s team sent their congratulations to him from the entire Showtime family, led by its hosts.
A netizen named “Sarcastic Risen” slammed Showtime.
He said, “After being cast on TNT, @itsShowtime is so proud to claim Sofronio Vasquez now that he has won The Voice US.”
“Audience comments, ABSCBN has always been good at credit grabbing.”
This garnered various reactions and comments from netizens.
“There are so many good singers in the Philippines. Whatever you want, even if someone deserves it more, let them win. What a crazy mindset..”
“Among the judges during his stint in that show it was Rey Valera who was only the one proudly noticed Sofronio’s distinctive talent. I would say Rey knew who got the real deal talent then.”
“Haha. Sofronio is actually from ABS. You guys can’t flex so just keep quiet”
“You’re so awesome, Sofronio actually started on Showtime.”
“He was not ignored. If you didn’t know, he is one of the coaches of TNT for the contenders. Even though he didn’t win the competition, they still have Sofronio with them on Showtime. And they are all very close to TNT.”
“There are times when we don’t win because God has a better plan for us. With his improvement, growth, and the experiences he gained during his time in TNT, those are what brought him to where he is now.”
“3rd place is not a loss, tsaka deserving si Jex De Castro at John Mark Garcia.”
“I’m not claiming it..just proud of course it’s from TNT. You’re the only one claiming it..”
Meanwhile, there has been no reaction, response, or statement from the Showtime and ABS-CBN camps regarding this.
