Kanye West is a man of many talents, and he has recently proven himself to be a big gamer with more than 100 hours in The Last of Us Part 1.

Video games have had more and more influence over the years. And with the success of adaptations like Fallout, Arcane, and The Last of Us (TLOU), games are getting more and more new players, especially among celebrities. One celebrity who has made his love for Naughty Dog’s games is Kanye West.

The singer recently admitted on Instagram that TLOU Part 2 was the best game ever made, and we’ve also spotted in a recent interview that he had 119 hours on Part 1. What’s weird is that despite having more than double the duration of the game in terms of playtime, he never finished it 100%.

The shot from Laboy’s interview shows Kanye standing in front of a TV displaying his playtime in The Last of Us, confirming that he has spent nearly 120 hours in the game without fully completing it. Around the 24 minute mark, a TV screen behind Kanye shows that he has played for 119 hours but only reached 92% completion.
119h but 92% ? what did he do all those time 😭

His play time is pretty questionable given that a typical playthrough of the game takes around 15 hours. Even a 100% run usually doesn’t take more than 25 hours for the average player. Fans online think he might have been exploring every inch of the world, while others joked that he was simply leaving the game on pause for hours. Regardless of the reason
complete the first game, Kanye West has already moved on to The Last of Us Part 2, and he isn’t shy about his love for it. On January 1, 2025, he posted an Instagram story calling it the “best game ever made.” The post featured gameplay footage of him stuck on Seattle Day 3 while playing in Survivor+ mode, one of the most challenging difficulties.
Only One Video Game – Kanye West
In 2015, Kanye wanted to create a video game in honor of his late mother, Donda West.
The concept of the game was guiding his mother to the gates of heaven. It later fell through due to funding & Kanye’s hospitalization at the time. pic.twitter.com/6bZ2pFOlJQ

West has been a public gamer over the years. He has referenced video games and anime in his music, and at one point, he even tried to develop his own game. In 2015, he announced Only One, a game inspired by his late mother, Donda, where players would play as her going through heaven.
He isn’t the first celeb gamer to like TLOU though

You won’t be surprised to hear that Kanye West isn’t the only celebrity to have praised the game. It’s very likely that the success of the HBO adaptation got a lot of new players, including celebrities. But that aside, we’ve seen numerous high-profile figures be fans of the game from Zendaya to Zayn Malik.
One Direction star Zayn Malik recently celebrated his 32nd birthday with a The Last of Us-themed cake. We can expect even more fans as time passes. The HBO series is also getting a second season soon, so we can expect more news like this in the coming future.
Regardless of how big he is a fan of The Last of Us, West’s 119 hours to 92% completion ratio is now a meme among fans. Will he ever complete the first game fully? Or is he like us gamers and just moving on with Part 2? What do you think of West’s declaration? Let us know in the comments!
