No Man’s Sky didn’t exactly have the smoothest of launches but today, it’s one of the most impressive games on the market.

Its scale is almost unmatched, and you’d be hard pressed to find a better adventure-survival title, if you ask me anyway.

Well, that is until Light No Fire manifests.

Hello Games’ follow-up to No Man’s Sky combines everything you love about that game with an additional flavouring of titles like Skyrim and Valheim.

Instead of taking to far flung planets, Light No Fire will transport you to an ancient fantasy world filled with mysterious kingdoms, magical creatures, dragons, and funky little guys in hooded cloaks.

“But Kate, why would that make it the decade’s most exciting game when GTA VI and The Elder Scrolls VI exist?” is a question I’m sure you’re thinking.

The answer to that question is that Light No Fire is set to be an Earth-sized game.

Yes, you heard me correctly. This enormous open-world is set to be as big as it gets, with no borders to hold players back.

The developers describe the scale as something that has “never [been] attempted before”.

Of course, having a world of this size does mean there will be some procedural generation at play, so hopefully the open-world won’t feel too repetitive.

I’m sure there’ll be lots of hand crafted settlements too.

With Light No Fire, you’ll build a base, befriend other players, engage in combat encounters, and just generally explore which, naturally, will keep you busy given the scale.

“Every mountain can be climbed, and below them lie endless vistas, oceans and continents perhaps no others have seen,” devs tease.

“Who will climb the tallest mountains, who will find the deepest sea? Set sail across vast oceans and rivers, ride wild beasts through fantastical landscapes, fly dragons over undiscovered landscapes.”

There’s a sense here that you be a true explorer, uncovering locales no other player has.

As for what platforms Light No Fire is coming to, it’s currently only scheduled to land on PC but like No Many’s Sky, I’d imagine we’d eventually see it shift over to PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X/S too.

It remains without a release date and honestly, I wouldn’t expect this one for a few years.

No Man’s Sky was launched in an unfinished state and Hello Games won’t want to repeat those mistakes; that combined with the ambitious scale of this title will result in a lengthy development period.

Even still, Light No Fire is definitely one to keep an eye on.
