You can add one of the most iconic locations of the original Red Dead Redemption into the 2018 prequel providing an added dose of nostalgia.

2010’s Red Dead Redemption is considered by many to be amongst Rockstar Games’ finest pieces of work. Arguably, that game has only been surpassed by its 2018 predecessor, Red Dead Redemption 2.

“Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are outlaws on the run. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive,” reads the synopsis of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Without giving too much away, one of the most iconic locations of the original Red Dead Redemption is MacFarlane’s ranch owned by family members Bonnie MacFarlane and her father, Drew.

Very early on in the game, the MacFarlane ranch is a place that John Martson calls home and in turn, he forms a strong bond with Bonnie. Being a prequel, the MacFarlane ranch does feature in Red Dead Redemption 2 but as you might expect, it’s not exactly the same.

Thankfully, despite not featuring Bonnie and Drew, Red Dead Redemption 2 modder SoggyFry has created the MacFarlane barn and other structures to near perfection and it’s free to download now via Nexusmods.

“This mod adds items similar to those from RDR1 into RDR2,” reads its description. “It also adds missing props around the safe house, including the shooting range (with bottles to train), and a fully furnished barn interior with a RDR1 reference.”

SoggyFry also says that the ‘MacFarlane’s Ranch 1907 Extension’ mod is created to go with another similar mod and recommends downloading that too. Details of that additional mod can be found on the Nexusmods page.

Unfortunately, as with the vast majority of mods, the fan-made expansion is only compatible with the PC version of the game.
