This one Dark Souls fight is so tough that crossing it is one of the best feeling ever.
Nothing is worse than being unable to beat a boss level in a FromSoftware game, and it can sometimes get to your nerves if it goes on for a long time. The fights, from the first Dark Souls to the latest Elden Ring, have evolved over time. However, the 2011 title still has this one enemy that will give you the ultimate satisfaction even today after you beat it.

Ornstein and Smough boss battle is one of the toughest | FromSoftware
Duo bosses have always been the cue for trouble in any of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games. People saw this come to life once again with the annoying god skin duo fight in 2022’s Elden Ring, but there was this one duo boss fight of Ornstein & Smough in the first Dark Souls that left everybody helpless.
Unlike most bosses, this fight doesn’t just make the player fight against two enemies at once, but forces them to adapt to wild attack patterns and a brutal second phase. Talking about how they were able to finally beat the boss after several attempts, a player shared his view on the game’s Reddit community page.
This fight alone has possibly broken countless players. It is ultimately where many hopeful Dark Souls players first considered quitting entirely, maybe even throwing their controllers against the wall in a fit of rage, only to pick it up later and get done with the unfinished business.

There are many bosses from Dark Souls making their way back into Elden Ring Nightreign | FromSoftware
Missing the early days of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s craft? You must not worry then, since FromSoftware’s upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign is possibly going to make you live through all the old memories and nightmares alike.
The rush of adrenaline, especially after defeating the OG bosses of the Dark Souls trilogy, makes the player feel special. And a few of these bosses, like The Nameless King, the Centipede Demon, and even Duke’s Dear Freja, are now appearing in the coming Elden Ring Nightreign, a co-op experience where you have to survive three days in a new version of The Lands Between in a group of 3 friends.
Ornstein & Smough are undoubtedly one of the more brilliantly crafted bosses in Dark Souls. While the fight is tough, the feeling of finally beating the boss is something that cannot be beaten easily. Maybe the only upgrade would be seeing this boss fight return as well in FromSoftware’s next project.
