It has since been revealed that another Spider-Man film is happening with Tom Holland returning as his version from the MCU. Plot details have not been divulged, and it’s unclear if the movie will again involve the multiverse with other incarnations of Peter Parker. Naturally, there has been speculation that Garfield will make another appearance as his version from The Amazing Spider-Man, but the actor recently insisted to GQ that he is not attached to Spider-Man 4, whether anyone believes him or not.
“I’m gonna disappoint you,” he says. “Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.”
I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.
Garfield shouldn’t be faulted for denying his big return in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Big efforts were being made to keep a lid on the returns of Garfield and Tobey Maguire, and if Garfield had admitted he was coming back prior to the film’s release, it would have spoiled the surprise. At the same time, it also means that fans will never really know for sure if Garfield is being truthful when it comes to his potential involvement in any Marvel Studios projects, or perhaps any movie he’s rumored to be attached to.
Officially, there have been no announcements made about Garfield returning as Spidey in Spider-Man 4 or any other upcoming Marvel film. It’s possible he could pop up in one of the Avengers sequels, given their direct focus on the MCU’s multiverse, but that has not been confirmed. There have been fans calling for Garfield to get his own third solo film in the role of Spider-Man, with Ryan Reynolds even declaring that the actor stole the show in No Way Home. For his part, Garfield has teased that he’s open to the idea of revisiting the role for Spider-Man 4 if it helps add to the movie in a meaningful way.

“If there’s something that can be concocted and thought up that feels additive to the canon of that character, then for sure [I would return],” he said in a People interview. “I think what it would take is a great idea, a great concept. Something that is surprising and odd and fun, joyful. It has to be worthwhile.”

Spider-Man 4, which has not yet had an official title that’s been announced, is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2026.
