A brand new way to play Skyrim just dropped, and you’re probably gonna need a computer from 2030 if you fancy running this version of the game.

Digital Dreams, a YouTuber who specialises in pushing video games to their graphical limits, just released a video showcasing an 8K60 “Ultra Modded” version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that will almost definitely make your computer explode if you try installing it.

The “Re-Stir” version of Skyrim clearly needs a pretty beefy PC to run it, as Digital Dreams revealed that they’re using a Gigabyte Aorus X670 AX motherboard, a NVIDIA RTX 5090 FE GPU and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU to power they’re using to play it.

“Skyrim in 8k? My PC just fainted… RTX 5090, GenMod, and ray tracing… I think i just saw the future of gaming,” commented @h3x0nlx3-tk9tg.

“when a dragon attacks either the game crashes, the pc explodes or the power company knocks on your door…” replied user @Kodabot.

Gotta agree with that last comment, because the video Digital Dreams has posted mostly just features a character walking around some environments.

It’s a smooth 60 FPS throughout, but something tells me that as soon as things get a little bit more hectics, some stutters might rear their ugly heads. But hey, as long as you don’t get in any combat, at least it’ll look pretty.

Still, if you wanna give it a go, Digital Dreams did leave links to all of the shader presets and the modlist they used to pull this off in the description of their video.

If you do manage to get this working on your PC, I’d love to hear how it functions during combat and exactly what kind of specs your machine has, because I am a little concerned that my own rig might catch fire if I try it myself.
