This Marvel Rivals Trick Lets Players Rack Up Kills Before The Game Even Starts

Marvel Rivals Peni Parker set against the Tokyo map backdrop
There is perhaps nothing more satisfying in a multiplayer shooter than performing a successful skillshot. 360-no scoping, tossing grenades from across the map, jumping out of an airplane to blast your enemy with an RPG and getting back in – these are all skillful feats appreciated by all kinds of gamers.

However, every once in a while we’ll come across a video of a kill that’s technically an exploit. While they’re not in accordance with the rules of the game, they are still just as impressive. In fact, they require a different kind of skill to even find out how to pull off the exploit. Whether by research or chance, discovering these exploits is a talent in itself, like this one in Marvel Rivals.

What Comes Before Spawn Camping?

We’ve seen many hilarious Marvel Rivals kills, like Doctor Strange portaling enemies off cliffs, and players running to enemy doors to plant mines before they get out. However, this is the first time we’ve seen someone get a kill before the match even starts.

Over on the Marvel Rivals subreddit, Sark00_ posted a video of their Peni Parker launching a mine across the map and into the enemy spawn location even before the doors open. We can see Psyloke getting ragdolled by the mine, probably not expecting it in the spawn zone. While the poster admitted that it was an easy bot, there’s a huge chance that an actual player may fall for it too.

Unfortunately, this exploit is probably going to be hotfixed pretty quickly as the devs probably don’t want a bunch of Peni’s yeeting mined into enemy spawn locations.

If you weren’t already aware of how popular Marvel Rivals has been since launch, it has not only filled the gap that overwatch 2 left behind, but has the maximum player retention of any recently launched live game. While the likes of Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 lost 53 percent of its players in their first six weeks, Marvel Rivals only lost three percent in the same amount of time.
