One of the parts of game development that most players don’t see is the sheer amount that has to be cut in order to ship the title.
Hogwarts Legacy is no different, and one Redditor has been combing the files within the game to uncover what was cut or not pursued by the development team.
Of course, some files could possibly point to things that will develop over time, perhaps in the upcoming DLC, which is scheduled for later this year.
Laytheron has several threads through the Hogwarts Legacy Reddit listing countless files that show everything from cut spells, to areas off limits to players.
One particular thread shows a vast amount of spells that could have made it into the game. So many, in fact, that I wasn’t even aware a lot of these were a part of the Harry Potter world.
And some more. Look at all the spells we could have had! The table also details mechanics and effects.

“So many cut or not implemented, FFS,” said Track_Long, who went on to explore what could have been.
“Reducto & Expluso are in the game but not available to us *unless you have mods, I’ve also seen Expulso Maxima & Fiendfyre. Incarcerous could have been another non-lethal option. I would have liked Piertotum locomotor to use stone statues against foes.”
CreatureDefinition has all sorts of information about the creatures, magical and non-magical. For magical, it lists which creatures specifically don’t get along, preferred toy, whether a carnivore or aggressive, spawn flying probability, etc.

Another player, muapau, said, “Wow! I want Aguamenti and Episkey, they are so specific, I wonder how they would even be used in the gameplay.”
There’s a hope from some that these were perhaps tested while developing the game, but have now been kept aside for the eventual sequel game.
“Doesn’t this just mean all the assets are ready for 2?” questions feryoooday.
