In a recent interview with IGN, Dan Ayoub, the Senior Vice President of digital games at Hasbro, talked about the next step for the Baldur’s Gate series, confirming that things are moving along but that the company is in no rush to get a game out the door.
Hasbro Is In No Hurry For A New Baldur’s Gate
The Developers Must Gather Their Party Before Venturing Forth

According to Ayoub, Hasbro has “a lot of people very interested in Baldur’s Gate.” When asked about Baldur’s Gate 4, he said, “It’s somewhat of an unenviable position. I mean, we’re not in a hurry. Right? That’s the thing, we’re going to take a very measured approach.”
“We’re kind of working out our plans for the future and what we’re going to be doing with that. And actually, in pretty short order, we’re going to have some stuff to talk about around that.”
Baldur’s Gate 4 Is A Long Way Away
The Sword Coast Will Have To Wait

Baldur’s Gate 3 spent years in Early Access before it was ready for launch. The game has received a steady flow of content and patches ever since. It took a long time to get the game into the position it was in. It hasn’t even been two years since the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, so even if Hasbro had signed a company on straight away (after it was clear Larian Studios wanted to move on to something else), then the game would still be nowhere near completion.
The best fans can hope for over the next few years is a tease at one of the big gaming events, with an actual Baldur’s Gate 4 release not expected for years. However, this is a good thing, as any game that hopes to match the quality of the previous Baldur’s Gate games will need a lot of time in the oven to be worthy of the name.
