Star Trek: Picard’s Borg Queen actor Alison Pill addresses whether she would return to the franchise, while expressing uncertainty about her character’s fate. Pill played ever-flustered Daystrom Institute cyberneticist Agnes Jurati in Picard season 1, fueling divided fan reaction. Agnes was back for season 2 despite her detractors, and saw her story take a major twist when she was assimilated by the Borg, becoming a new, potentially non-villainous Borg Queen. Picard season 4 is not yet confirmed, leaving the Borg Queen’s fate very much up in the air.
Currently starring in the down-to-earth romantic-comedy Young Werther, Pill revealed exclusively to ScreenRant that she’s keen to play Jurati/The Borg Queen again, but assured she’s not on a retainer just waiting to hear from Alex Kurtzman and company:
If I was on a retainer, I could pay my mortgage and just wait for Star Trek to call! Then I could spend summers eating gelato! No, there’s no retainer. But I would happily revisit Jurati Borg Queen any time. I f–king love Jurati and loved being part of that crew. But I don’t know what the possibilities of that are, since I was sent to deal with the possible invasion. She’s just waiting! … But yes, I loved it. There’s no plucking or retainer, but I would happily revisit that world.
What This Means For Jurati/The Borg Queen
The Borg Are Good Guys Now (Sort Of)

Star Trek: Picard season 1 proved polarizing, thanks in large part to divisive new characters like Pill’s Agnes Jurati. Season 1’s cast of newly-introduced space-farers was pared down for season 2, and shrank even more for season 3, with only Raffi and Rios deemed worthy of significant roles. As Pill recalls, Jurati/Borg Queen exited at the end of season 2, having introduced to Trek lore the concept of a benevolent Borg collective willing to work with Starfleet to fend off potential invaders.
Pill indeed seems ready and willing to return to the Trek universe and explore what happens next with the Borg Queen and the kinder, gentler collective. But it sounds as though Pill’s heart is truly with the character of Jurati, who she “f—king loves,” but it seems Jurati no longer physically exists, having merged with the Borg Queen.
The Good Borg idea may indeed warrant further exploration, given the huge new spin it puts on the previously-villainous race of cube-dwelling assimilators.
Star Trek: Picard season 4 isn’t happening as of now, though that could change in the future. Picard spinoffs have also been proposed, including the fan-favored Star Trek: Legacy concept, but nothing is confirmed in that regard either. Seven-of-Nine actor Jeri Ryan did reveal that she was pitched a spinoff idea that’s not Legacy, but turned it down.
Our Take On Pill’s Possible Star Trek Return
The Borg Queen Could Have Further Business With Starfleet

The Borg Queen is out there in the universe somewhere, and as long as that’s the case, the door remains open for the character to return. The Good Borg idea may indeed warrant further exploration, given the huge new spin it puts on the previously-villainous race of cube-dwelling assimilators. Conflict between the Borg Queen and whatever’s left of Jurati could make for a fruitful storyline, and would represent a challenging acting exercise for Pill.
Star Trek: Picard only scratched the surface of the Good Borg before sending Pill’s character to the depths of the galaxy. If the right story comes along, it might be interesting to see what happens next to the dual entity. On the other hand, the Good Borg idea could be a dead-end, and Jurati/BQ a character who served their purpose and can now be left to history.
