The First Descendant’s Most Popular Skins Are Being Discontinued but the Policy Raises Concerns of Inducing FOMO Amongst Players

The Season 2 in The First Descendant is coming up very soon but those who are waiting to buy old skins might have to buy them as “rebranded.”

Season 2 of The First Descendant is almost here, and the free Steam looter shooter has a ton of new features to enjoy. For players hoping that some of their favorite limited-edition cosmetics might eventually return, developer Nexon has bad news.

The First Descendant skins will be rebranded, with extensions to a variety of skin sales and refunds of Caliber and Paint in certain specific cases, in an effort to prevent such problems in the future. However, this might induce severe FOMO in the players.

The First Descendant Players Will Buy the Excluded Skins Whenever They Will Be Available

Nexon has taken a moment to address the way cosmetic skins are available in its microtransaction store ahead of the start of The First Descendant Season 2 on Thursday, December 5. However, this is not the only baffling decision the game has ever made.

Many players have demanded the return of some of the limited-edition skins that were available during the free Steam game’s launch, but their request has been turned down. According to The First Descendant developer, this is because of a law that forbids skins that were marketed as limited editions from being re-offered.

Nexon says, “We are aware that many Descendants want the re-offering of ‘limited skins’ that were previously on sale” But according to the applicable law, “limited products” aren’t allowed to be sold again.

The entire collection features a variety of seasonal options, including swimsuit skins for Summer Vacation and Halloween costumes like Pumpkin Hunter and Sweet Whispers. Not to be seen again are the Dinosaur and Panda Onesies from the game’s first battle pass.

Additionally, the developer confirms that, as previously reported, all products included in discount bundles will now be released as individual items as well. This means that if you only want one item, you are not obligated to purchase the entire package.

Limited skins will be resold by Nexon once they are out of stock. Many people may miss out on these skins because they aren’t included in the Battle Pass and are rather expensive. Those who want to avoid missing out will have to purchase them whenever they become available unless they succumb to FOMO. This decision from Nexon might again stir another controversy.

More About the Skins in Season 2

Albion Fire Brigade, Gentlemanly, Twisted Worship, Executioner, Dead Bride, Mk Dominator 02, and Albion Detention Center are among the skins that will be permanently removed from sale, in addition to the ones that have already been discontinued.

Fortunately, the “limited skins” category will be changed to “recommended skins” at the beginning of Season 2, with Nexon noting that “these products may be rereleased through events or promotions at a later time.” In Season 2, all common skins will be shareable, so you will only need to purchase them once, enabling all Descendants who are able to use them to do so.

All Descendants now share the paint that has been applied to these skins. Several of the previously mentioned discontinued options are included in this update. Nexon states that players who bought the same skin more than once before Season 2 will receive a refund for the additional Caliber and Paint used to acquire the extra skins at a later time.

Ultimate Descendant bundles will now be available all the time. All bundles will now be permanently available for purchase, even though they weren’t marked as limited products and instead moved in and out of the store. Additionally, each component will now be offered separately, just like with other bundles.
