Reba McEntire’s hit sitcom was picked up for five more episodes, bringing the total number for Season 1 to 18!

Reba McEntire’s return to the sitcom universe has been a smash hit. NBC’s Happy’s Place, starring the country legend and Voice Season 26 Coach, is currently in the midst of its debut season and it’s been full of laughs so far.

Executive produced by McEntire as well as Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, and Julie Abbott, the new multi-cam comedy is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Happy’s Place also features a talented and hysterical cast, including McEntire’s former Reba co-star Melissa Peterman, and has already introduced some stellar guest stars.

Happy’s Place has already proven to be hit as NBC announced in November 2024 that the sitcom has been picked up for five more episodes, bringing the total episode count for the first season to 18!

What is Happy’s Place about?

“Bobbie (Reba McEntire) inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had,” a synopsis for the show reads.

In the interview with Entertainment Tonight, McEntire opened up about her experience filming Happy’s Place, and what fans should expect from the new show. “It’s lots of fun. I love all genres of entertainment. But the sitcoms are so much fun, cause it’s a brand new script every week. And you’re just having fun. It’s really hard memorizing dialogue you have to do, but it ain’t my first rodeo. I do love it. And it’s just playtime. We have a blast with it,” she told the outlet.

She continued, “It’s gonna be that heartfelt, fun, funny, laugh at our silliness. But also, [you’ll] be touched with the heart in our show.”

Along with McEntire, Happy’s Place stars another familiar face, Melissa Peterman, who you may recognize from McEntire’s hit sitcom Reba, which ran from 2001 to 2007. Peterman played Barbra Jean, the dental hygienist who had an affair with Reba’s on-screen husband, Brock. McEntire and Peterman also appeared together in projects Young Sheldon, Working Class, The Hammer, and Baby Daddy. Peterman plays Gabby, the bartender in Happy’s Place.

Additionally, McEntire’s IRL boyfriend, Rex Linn, plays the role of Emmett, the bar’s short order cook. “He is kind of the patriarch now that [the character’s] daddy has died. Cause he has been with the tavern the longest,” McEntire told Entertainment Tonight. 

Happy’s Place also stars Belissa Escobedo as Bobbie’s newly discovered half-sister, Isabella, Pablo Castelblanco as Steve, Bobbie’s accountant, and Tokala Black Elk as Takoda, the bar’s waiter and handyman.
