For those unaware, a highly-anticipated but unofficial prequel AND sequel to Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally here and with it, the return of none other than Arthur Morgan himself.

Set in the late 19th century, Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in an important time for American history and both its story and its setting are based on real-life events.

Luckily, Rockstar Games does well not to turn the much-loved title into a virtual history lesson. However, if a history lesson is what you are looking for, this release has you covered.

Red Dead’s History: A Video Game, an Obsession, and America’s Violent Past by Tore C. Olsson is a non-fiction book inspired by the real-life events that would have taken place during Red Dead Redemption 2 and its predecessor.

Released in June last year, Red Dead’s History is perfect for fans of the games and history itself and better yet, its audiobook is narrated by none other than Roger Clark.

Taking on the role of Arthur Morgan in the series, Clark’s voice has become as well-known as Red Dead itself but fans are feeling divided about his role as narrator.

“Tried the audio, found Roger reading it as Arthur too distracting,” one comment over on r/reddeadredemption read.

“For me personally, it’s just not working. Gonna do it the old fashioned way.”

However, another said: “Currently listening to the audiobook and really enjoying it. And Roger does a terrific job reading in character, such as naturally dropping his g’s…or at least I assume you didn’t write fightin’ instead of fighting.”
