An insider suggests that Microsoft has recognized the biggest flaw with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and won’t repeat it with the next Fable.
Back in the golden days of gaming, Fable was one of the top-tier Xbox exclusives right up there with Halo, and it made the Xbox 360 a must-have. However, for some odd reason, the franchise was abandoned and never heard of again.
However, after a long hiatus from the franchise, Xbox unveiled to the masses in 2020 that Fable is making a return with a new entry. It seems like Microsoft is betting huge on this title as it’s learning from its previous mistakes with Hellblade 2 and making sure that Fable doesn’t repeat it anyway or shape.

One of the biggest underlying issues with the game was its exclusivity to Xbox. It wasn’t a well-known franchise to begin with, and it lost out a major chunk of the audience by being limited to a console that’s losing out against PS5.
However, it seems like Microsoft has realized this blunder. Game journalist and The Xbox Two podcast co-host Jez Corden revealed on Twitter/X that Microsoft considers Hellblade 2‘s exclusivity to be a major mistake, and Fable wouldn’t follow the same path.
That game was monstrously expensive. It might not be day one, but it’ll come with the current plan in place imo.

Cordon suggests that Fable won’t be limited to Xbox due to its huge budget. Although the game might not arrive on PlayStation consoles on day one, it will eventually make its way with Microsoft’s current strategy of bringing all first-party Xbox games to PlayStation.
In recent months, we’ve seen more and more Xbox games jumping consoles. The brand-new trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 revealed that the game would be arriving on PS5. Obsidian’s Avowed is still listed for Xbox and PC, but that’s probably going to change soon.
Corden has also suggested that the age of Xbox having its own exclusive games is over. However, Sony isn’t heading down this route as it’s not willing to share its biggest games with Xbox.
When is Fable 4 hitting the shelves?

The next Fable game got its first real reveal in 2023’s Xbox Games Showcase, and recent leaks have suggested that the game has CD Projekt Red’s DNA as its combat design is inspired by what we’ve seen in The Witcher 3.
However, the game’s actual release is still way off. Back in June, developer Playground Games revealed a very vague release timeframe of 2025. It’s quite frustrating that we don’t have an actual release date, but it’s great to see that we will be finally returning to this iconic RPG series next year.
But it won’t be that easy for PlayGround Games. Let’s not forget the fact one of the most hyped games of the decade, GTA 6, is also dropping next year. Most gaming studios are looking to avoid the year because Rockstar Games will be at the center of attention.
