Step aside, Nick Fury. You’ve got competition.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s inception, Nick Fury has proved to be a steadfast leader of the Avengers.

Admittedly, yes, he’s been a tad more preoccupied by the Kree and Skrull conflict in recent years, but the Avengers wouldn’t be what they are without Fury.

But a new leader is soon set to make their mark.

Don’t worry. This leader won’t be taking over the Avengers, or at least the ‘old’ cohort.

Kamala Khan is preparing to lead the Young Avengers, something that’s just been teased by one Marvel executive.

Kamala’s, or Ms. Marvel’s, building of the Young Avengers isn’t exactly a shock to us if you’ve been keeping up with the MCU’s various releases.

At the end of The Marvels, for example, Kamala could be seen recruiting Kate Bishop.

And it doesn’t feel like a coincidence that the MCU has been steadily introducing known Young Avengers members from the comic books.

Wiccan, Cassie Lang, and America Chavez are all present in the MCU, ready to be recruited just like their comic book counterparts.

This is no longer the only evidence we have that the Young Avengers are on their way.

Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum has referenced Kamala’s future in the MCU in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“I love Iman. She’s incredible. I love that character. I will tell you that she’s certainly a big part of the MCU to me,” Winderbaum began.

“Ms. Marvel is a really important show to us, and without going into great detail, because I don’t want to spoil anything, she is top of mind. So it’s going to be exciting to see where she pops up next.”

That delights me to no end because Kamala is easily one of my favourite Marvel characters.
