Assassin’s Creed Shadows can seriously enhance their stealth mechanics by taking inspiration from the Batman Arkham franchise.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise features some of the best plotlines and characters in the entire gaming industry, but one element in their titles that has been lacking an update for a while is its stealth gameplay. The stealth mechanics in almost all the Assassin’s Creed games till now have been quite similar.

On the other hand, Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham games have a plethora of stealth dynamics that make the players feel like an Apex Predator. How did Rocksteady achieve this, and how can Ubisoft implement it in their upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows? Let’s find out.
How Ubisoft can elevate its stealth mechanics

Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series made sure that the stealth missions in their game feel as realistic as possible and that players actually feel like The Dark Knight himself when playing the game. They also passed the frightening aura that Batman possesses onto the players. In the Arkham games, players can take down enemies one by one by manipulating the environment to truly instill fear in them as the bat vigilante does. Assassin’s Creed Shadows could adopt something similar to this.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows could incorporate some stealth mechanics inspired by the Arkham games, particularly in how enemies dynamically react to their surroundings. For instance, if the enemies hear a suspicious sound, they will get alerted, or knocking them down on the ground will make a noise that alerts nearby enemies in that area. Adversaries can additionally react to their allies being missing or one of them not responding during their roll call.
Shadows could also have implemented fear-based mechanics in their game where the protagonists can inspire dread in their enemies by knocking out targets and making their allies paranoid. This mechanic could further be enhanced where weaker enemies would run away or surrender if they see multiple of their allies are being taken out by the main character.
That being said, Ubisoft did not back down from implementing some new mechanics in their upcoming game. One new feature in Shadows is Shinobi Moves, a trait where the player is completely invisible in the shadows, making every shaded area in the game a dynamic hiding spot. Naoe has also been given four additional tools at her disposal that she can use to escape and/or kill her enemies.
These upgrades have given players more creative freedom in how they approach stealth, whether it’s slipping past patrols unnoticed or eliminating threats with calculated efficiency.

Ubisoft has already incorporated several new stealth elements in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, making sneaky gameplay more immersive than ever. Although the upcoming game’s stealth mechanics won’t exactly be like the Batman Arkham series, Ubisoft has ensured players that they will find the experience more engaging than repetitive.
Now, with Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date stealthily creeping closer to us with each passing day, players are quite eager to see whether the new gameplay elements will make the experience more exciting or it will simply just draw comparisons to Ghost of Tsushima.
