Avengers: Doomsday might be doomed, not for the Russo Brothers or The Electric State flop, but because the CGI team has only a year to deliver.

Marvel just sent its fans into a frenzy with a nearly five-hour-long live stream unveiling a star-studded cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Packed with big names, both new faces and old, it’s shaping up to be a true MCU all-star event. For many, it felt like waking up on Christmas morning, and given that the real deal is still to arrive, that alone says a lot.
That said, not everyone is diving in headfirst. While the hype is through the roof, some fans are cautiously managing expectations, hoping this won’t turn into a massive letdown. And yet, there’s one looming reason that could make it just that…

Avengers: Doomsday might be in jeopardy because of this!
With what is going to look like there are going to be a crazy amount of heroes in Avengers: Doomsday, one would expect Marvel to allow ample time for its CGI team to perfect the visuals. However, with the film set to release on May 1, 2026, as part of Phase Six, and filming scheduled from March to August 2025 in London, the post-production team is left with just about a year to complete their work.
For a project of this scale, that timeline is alarmingly tight. In comparison, Superman had 16 months for post-production, while Doomsday is left with only 13, despite being significantly more reliant on CGI.

Since Marvel heavily utilizes blue and green screens for its large-scale visual effects, a rushed schedule could lead to inconsistent graphics, unfinished shots, and underwhelming effects.
Previous MCU projects have already faced criticism for rushed CGI, with awkward lighting and unpolished visuals standing out to fans. With Doomsday being one of the most ambitious Marvel films yet, expectations are higher than ever. Whether the final product will meet those expectations or suffer from last-minute visual compromises remains to be seen.
CGI issues and The Electric State flop make Doomsday’s success hard to trust!
The Russo Brothers may be MCU legends, but their latest project, The Electric State, just took a massive hit, one that probably stings. Despite their so-called “success” with The Gray Man and their genuinely impressive track record with the Avengers films, this big-budget sci-fi flick turned out to be more of a shocking disaster than a hit.
With a jaw-dropping $320 million price tag (via Business Insider), The Electric State became one of the most expensive movies ever made and Netflix’s priciest gamble. But instead of a blockbuster triumph, it crashed and burned. While it did debut at No. 1 on Netflix’s weekly chart, it racked up only 25.2 million views, a far cry from The Gray Man, which pulled in 41.2 million.
(L to R) Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown), Cosmo (voiced by Alan Tudyk), Herman (Voiced by Anthony Mackie), Keats (Chris Pratt), and Mr. Peanut (voiced by Woody Harrelson) in The Electric State.
As if the numbers weren’t bad enough, critics and audiences both have been tearing it apart online.
Reviews have been brutal, and social media has been relentless, with many calling it an overstuffed, overpriced flop. For the Russo Brothers, this one’s a tough blow, proving that even blockbuster directors aren’t immune to a box office (or in this case, streaming) disaster.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on May 1st, 2026.
