Bridgerton has found the perfect witch to fulfill a fairy tale role.

Katie Leung, who starred as Ravenclaw witch Cho Chang in the massively popular Harry Potter film franchise, is joining season 4 of the Regency era romance. The latest chapter of Bridgerton, set to explore the love story between Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), has found a new antagonist in the form of Leung’s Lady Araminta Gun.

Per her character description, Araminta is a “twice-married and twice-widowed” woman with two daughters debuting on the marriage mart in the upcoming season. “Fabulous, discerning, and blunt, Araminta does not respond well when anything — or anyone — threatens her standing in society.”

Unfortunately for Sophie, the widow has her sights set on Benedict as she works to get at least one of her daughters married off.

Along with Leung come two more new arrivals: Michelle Mao (Sweet Home, Goosebumps) and Isabella Wei (The Crow, 1899) will star as Araminta’s daughters, Rosamund and Posy.

Eldest daughter Rosamund is vain, eager to please, and hoping to secure a match with a certain bohemian Bridgerton brother. As the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Rosamund is just as determined to get what she wants as her scheming mother.

Meanwhile, Posy is the kinder, chattier sister with a bad habit of putting her foot in her mouth.

Adapted from An Offer from a Gentleman, the third of Julia Quinn novels, the Cinderella-inspired season 4 will center on Benedict as he meets and falls in love with a mysterious masked woman at his mother’s masquerade ball. Speaking to Tudum, Thompson teased the fairy tale romance that lies ahead.

“What’s striking about season 4 is that it’s the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world,” Thompson shared. “And both are true. You have to hold both of them — the romance and the reality — in your hand. In its best version, ‘true love’ happens in the middle of that.”

He continued, “The scripts that [showrunner] Jess [Bromwell] and her team have come up with are dynamite. They’re really, really, really exciting. The storyline is a bit of a twist on Cinderella. You remember being told those stories as a child — the magic and the romance of them. It’s really exciting to have that weaved into the world that we know of Bridgerton. It’s such a great story, but it’s also, I hope, really relatable.”

As for Ha, she is already feeling a profound connection to her character. “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome,” Ha said. “Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”

The season will also feature more time with two characters that Bridgerton fans already know well: Alice Mondrich (Emma Naomi) and Queen Charlotte’s loyal companion, Brimsley (Hugh Sachs).

These updates follow the success of Bridgerton‘s third season, which centered on the love story between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), as the latter reveals her longtime crush and secret identity as Lady Whistledown. The Newton and Coughlan-led season quickly became the series’ biggest debut ever with a staggering 45.1 million views on opening weekend.
