Elder Scrolls 6 might not survive against this one competitor that’s centered around the most popular series on the globe.

Even though Todd Howard’s magnum opus, Elder Scrolls 6, is still years away from release, it has a lot riding on its shoulders. Bethesda’s follow-up to the smash-hit predecessor, Skyrim, remains in the minds of many gamers who are waiting for the next chapter in the studio’s RPG franchise.

Despite the hype surrounding the game, Bethesda hasn’t revealed much. However, it seems like the studio has made a massive blunder, as a Game of Thrones RPG is on its way and could prove to be the next big thing in the popular genre.

At The Games Award 2024, one of the biggest reveals was undoubtedly Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. It’s one of the most exciting RPG projects and is being developed by South Korean video game company Netmarble in partnership with Warner Bros. and HBO.
Since the title’s initial reveal, gamers have been craving to know more about this RPG. Luckily, Netmarble has released an action-packed trailer for the game that gives us a look at what this incredible world has to offer in terms of gameplay, combat, and story.

Currently, the Game of Thrones RPG is set to be released on iOS and Android. Gamers can play the title on Windows PC via Windows Launcher, but it isn’t a full-fledged desktop version. The developers have already expressed interest in making one, and whenever that arrives, it will put serious pressure on the Elder Scrolls franchise.
A Game of Thrones RPG is destined to be a success. We’re likely to see Netmarble add constant updates to the game and much more once it drops. Since it’s an open-world title, and everyone knows about the Game of Thrones lore, the mythology, and the characters, people wouldn’t have a hard time diving into this title, unlike Elder Scrolls.
Let’s hope Howard and Bethesda can learn from this incredible RPG; otherwise, Elder Scrolls 6 is bound to be another failure like Starfield.
The next Elder Scrolls game has broken a disappointing record

If you’ve forgotten, Skyrim debuted all the way back on November 11, 2011. The title stole many accolades, including the Game of the Year award, and gamers were eager to see what was coming next.
Instead of holding until the successor was in development, Bethesda shocked everyone with a big reveal much earlier than expected by announcing Elder Scrolls 6 on June 10, 2018.
Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed 2,403 days after Skyrim was released in the market. As of January 8, 2025, it’s been 2,404 days since the game was shown off. That’s right, it’s been just as long since the Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed as between the fifth title’s debut.
It’s been almost seven years, and it’s unknown when Bethesda will open one of the most anticipated RPGs of the decade.
