Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer adaptation has become one of the website’s most popular original shows, despite competing with much higher-profile shows. The passionate fans are regularly asking, “When is The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 coming out?” in the comments sections, excited for updates. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been much news to work with regarding the timeline since the show was renewed last October. We’ve been stuck in a waiting game.

The best way to get a grasp on when the next season of a show will come out is to look at the production and post-production schedule of past seasons. Season 1 released 10 months after filming wrapped, but the two more recent seasons have only taken 4 months and 3 months, respectively. Because filming for The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 wrapped on June 19, it could still premiere in 2025, if it follows the timeline set by the last two seasons. If so, The Lincoln Lawyer will probably be released in September or October 2025.

The likelihood of it coming out in 2025 increases because of the captions on co-showrunner Ted Humphrey’s Instagram posts about the filming wrapping. He confirmed that they’re already hard at work on editing and promised the show “very soon.” While “soon” is a subjective term, more than six months doesn’t seem to fit that definition.

Netflix is having an issue with popular shows going multiple years between seasons. One of the worst offenders is Stranger Things, which went 3 years between seasons 3 and 4 and 3 years between seasons 4 and 5. The wait between Wednesday season 1 and 2 was almost 2.5 years. Squid Game season 2 took 3 years to make. Even All of Us Are Dead season 2 has been delayed for 3, almost 4 years, and it still doesn’t have a release date. There are so many more examples that I could mention, but those shows disgruntled fans the most.

The Lincoln Lawyer could help curb the frustrations about Netflix’s release schedule, though. If season 4 comes out in 2025, that would be four seasons in 4 years. Very few other shows have that consistent a timeline. The biggest examples are Nobody Wants This, which reportedly will be released yearly, and Bridgerton, which will be released every two years.

The Lincoln Lawyer Doesn’t Need As Much Production And Post-Production Time

Although other popular Netflix shows are getting delayed, The Lincoln Lawyer isn’t facing the same issue because of one major difference. Most shows that have multiple years between seasons have high production costs, bigger casts, and extravagant sets, costumes, and SFX.

In contrast, The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal drama with very few sets. Most of the show occurs in a courtroom, legal office, the back of a car, jail, or in LA. It’s not really one that requires extensive production time and resources. The cast of The Lincoln Lawyer is relatively small every season. On top of that, The Lincoln Lawyer doesn’t need much SFX, which adds more time to the post-production timeline.
